Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I've acutally thought that they've looked pretty good since the break. My biggest concern is the power play, 2-16 since Christmas, and most of us could have burried the puck on Reilly's 5-on-3 goal against MSU. If Knapp continues to play well (and is rewarded for that play with starts) I think we're going to be ok.

Oh, and if Biggs and Coleman keep their hands to themselves :)

From these comments, I'm not sure if you've been watching hockey at all the past 3 months. You make it sound like we're playing like crap.

We've had 2 series since the winter break: road trips to East Lansing and Sault Ste. Marie. In those road games, we are 3-1-0 in those series with a scoring advantage of 11-5, including a shutout. When you add these games to the stretch we played coming into the break, we're on a bit of a roll. Since the 5 game slide at the end of October, we're 10-4-2, with 11 of those 16 games being on the road. With such a young team, I find that quite impressive.

I'm not suggesting taking WM lightly, but let's give the boys in red a little bit of their due.

Random thoughts from last night:

-This is the first game I've actually gotten to watch in a while so this observation may be a bit overdue, but Paulides has improved a lot.

-Czarnik's forechecking is awesome, I think he caused 2 or 3 turnovers in the offensive zone.

-If Knapp isn't in goal again tonight, then Rico must be smoking something.

Or drinking a few too many Rico Blasi Iced Teas at Pattersons.

How about Little Wideman last night? Was making plays all over the place, and ended up on the 2/3rd line by the end of the game.

This. Czarnik's forechecking led to all three goals. I was pretty impressed with Western Michigan and how quick they are in open ice.
