Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Happy only real opening day of the baseball season... Wait..., union is playing? See ya in october

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I find myself in a "lesser of two evils" situation regarding the NC game tomorrow.

On the one hand, I could obviously never root for BC. I have nothing against Ferris, but I just have a hard time seeing other schools potentially get their first title before us (I realize that is quite bitter...).

Looks like a new commit Marc Hagel from Princeton. He played four year there, but one was a red shirt year. Presumably he is graduating this year, so he can play right away, and have one year of eligibility. I'm guessing he wanted a lateral move academically. :) Probably be a grad student here. Helps with the numbers for the forwards and he had decent numbers this year at Princeton. Interesting.

Thanks for the update, redeagle! Very interesting, indeed. I had no idea a player could even do that (graduate, enroll as grad student, play immediately)! Definitely can't complain about adding an experienced and relatively solid player.

Got another commit for y'all: Kevin Morris, F from Dubuque (USHL). I believe he is the son of ex-Clarkson head coach and current Manchester Monarchs (AHL) head coach Mark Morris. Has 19 points this season (8-11).

Lost 12, Gain 12

D: Sieloff, Caito, C. Joyaux
F: Gacek, Fredrickson, Kuraly, Barber, Hagel, Morris ('92?)
G: McKay, Williams, Effinger (?)

Looks like Morris could afford to put some weight on, but he has some serious size - 6'4, 180lbs

Noted this on MHT. A team won their 5th title tonight, 3 of which have come since the Jonesy OT regional final loss. Hope we can get some titles soon. 2011-12 is in the books, I'm ready for the last year of the CCHA. Bring on Kurarly, Hartman, Barber, McKay, Williams, Gacek, Joyaux...

These two minor additions for next year are concerning. I know we need to replace Reilly plus the senior forwards, but it also gives me the bad feeling that we haven't seen all the early departures yet from this team.

And, we really won't know until the fall...

I think we're looking at our first "rebuild" year in quite some time.

Probably the last time we see Smith or BIGGS in a Miami sweater. Sad way to see Reilly go out, probably his worst game of the season.

Standing by this one until classes begin in the fall, the moves this weekend didn't do much to ease my nerves on that front either. If Burke is outsed in Toronto and replaced with a GM less endeared to NCAA development, we might get the uncertainty of this one out of the way pretty quickly.

Additonally, the Spitfire boards are all a buzz with rumors of a NCAA player/commit bailing to head north. For anyone who is unaware - Czarnik, Sieloff, and Barber are all drafted by Windsor. Just rumors and speculation, but it's setting the stage for a looooooong summer.
