Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Fangers.... outworked- no! that is the hardest I have ever seen this team play. Trent and the Hirch probably played the best games of their career as they were the only ones adjusting to the game's flow, or lack thereof. (don't believe me? go back and watch the film of volgelhuber taking the puck to the net and creating scoring chances or hirch making defensive plays all game long) Unfortunately simply giving 110% doesn't always equate to seamless, dominating hockey that we have come to expect. I'm saying that Lowell won because their style of defense was able to neutralize our top lines.

Maybe individuals were putting forth some serious effort, but by no means did they look like they were working together as a team. I'm not saying they didn't care or weren't motivated. I don't know what makes a team click or not, but whatever it is didn't kick in until late in the 2nd period. From the stands, it looked like bad on-ice communication, mental lapses, and just a general feeling that everything was out of sync. Again, that's not a criticism of anyone's personal efforts.

But, yes, Lowell was great and clogging up the shooting and passing lanes, too, and that's probably a big part of the reason our guys looked out of sync. Credit to Lowell.

And congrats go out to Union on their first Frozen Four berth. We all (or at least most of us here) know how amazing that feeling is. I hope their team and fans enjoy every minute of it.

It's pretty crazy that, for the second year in a row, one team is going to be playing for its first championship. Wish it was us, but I guess it will be less stressful watching as a neutral

Also, go dogs.

Come on carmine, leave the sisterhood alone...

Clever

Bummer about Reilly, can't say we didn't see it coming though. Czarnik is going to have to find another sniper to feed...

Hey, does anyone remember what happened the last time we had a freshman goalie?

(Obviously, yes.)

Did you even watch the BC game last night? The title is theirs to lose.

That's pretty much where I'm at. Having seen UMD in person, anyone that makes them look that impotent offensively is terrifying.

So there is a chance Reilly might play for the Stars tonight, still rockin' the #18 jersey apparently.

I hope you're right. I don't know if I can handle seeing BC all over every college hockey website for the entire offseason (again).

Minnesota impressed me earlier in the season... Not seeing them much makes me think they've got talent but they have trouble syncing it together. Such a difference Jerry York makes.

I think Minny can take out BC as they have the tools but they have to find the way.

Conversely, I think Union can beat Minnesota for the very same reason. I don't know much about ferris so the only game I really want to see is BC and Minny. Of course Im playing kickball that night so there may not be so much choice in that matter.
