Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I didn't see Jackie Parker banging on the glass when they beat that team in the 2009 finals. Nor did I see Jerry York doing that after his team beat that team in the 2008 regional finals, either. Come to think of it I dont think I've ever seen a coach act like such a clown on national TV before. Just sayin'. Enjoy your summer.
Another great post onion breath...

Forgive him for being passionate and trying to motivate his team.

Excellent contribution, kindly **** off towards the exit. Just saying.

Agreed... you guys weren't baiting us all week and vice versa (though I've been going at one of your guys a bit)... its hard to say anything bad about Blasi and you guys deserved better chances the other years. Good luck next year... I won't apologize for winning last night but I'd like to see Enrico win a title... seems like he deserves it.

Yeah, if I was the Captain of Miami of Ohio and had this guy screaming in my face, I'd be "motivated" too. Rico can't win the big one. Maybe the "brotherhood dynasty" needs a new leader.

Clearly you have never watched sports.

Edit: Any yes, I realize I'm feeding the troll.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

As an outsider who watched that game, your coach is embarrassing. Pounding the glass, taunting fans, yelling at refs far longer than he should have. Happy to see him lose again.

The histrionics of Rico kind of made him a Big East basketball coach for a moment. It plays better in the Rotten Apple and Bahhhhstin than it does in Oxford, OH.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Now that a bit of my sanity has returned, perhaps I can be a bit more objective about this team/season. Random thoughts, in no particular order or theme:

-I really don't understand why Rico was messing with the lines. Maybe it had something to do with a lingering injury to Mullin, but everyone did not seem to be on the same page.

-Our defenders (looking at you, Kennedy) are really slow.

-Lowell just wanted it more, and they totally deserved to win.

-Enough with the negatives, I'm just beating a dead horse at this point. For me, with the seniors graduating (particularly Reichard and Knapp), it almost feels like the end of an era. I started following Miami hockey my freshman year (when the goalies were also freshman), so they are really all I've ever known. It's going to be strange watching games next year and not seeing either one between the posts.

-Hopefully all of the incoming freshmen make it to Oxford this summer, they have me pretty excited for next year. I suspect it will be another roller coaster learning experience.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I have seen both Hartman and Barber in person and they are both very, very good players on a pretty elite U-18 team, so Miami certainly has some good building blocks in the pipeline.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Though it is far too soon, it's time to migrate to an Offseason thread. Any suggestions for a title? Thinking about it is too depressing for me to come up with anything good right now.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I really don't think hockey east fans, or Lowell fans in particular, realize how fortunate the win was, two really fluke goals (1 and 4) plus the hand of god keeping the puck out of the net during that major penalty. Regardless miami played bad for two periods. Im done venting now, see you next year.

#1 was a fluke goal. #4 was not. #4 happened because a Lowell player was determined to score and the Miami defense didn't get to him fast enough to knock him off the play.

And some Miami fans - not all by any stretch - like yourself need to understand that your team, all the talent notwithstanding, has played very poorly for significant portions of the season - not just the first two periods yesterday. The better team won flat out yesterday, quit looking for excuses - you can claim they were fluke goals all you want but they were the direct result of UML working harder than Miami and getting to the net where good things can happen. Those are not fluke goals. Even the second goal that was called off had Czarnik coasting back and not picking up the trailer. Miami staff needs to figure out how to get all this talent to play together, especially come tourney time.

So it seems Ferris is the lone representative of the CCHA, yikes...

Not stunning, honestly. KRACH's a pretty good barometer at finding which teams are elite. This year, it's BC followed by about a dozen teams that are pretty close and could beat each other given a break or two.

Did anyone here even watch the game?? It had nothing to do with Lowell wanting it more, they just executed their game plan better. Miami is a puck possession team and Lowell did an outstanding job of getting in the way of our passing lanes. That is credit to the Riverhawks and not due to a lack of effort whatsoever. if you have eyes you can tell that they were playing their hearts out. And it's not like Lowell dominated the game. Their goals came on rushes and off of turnovers. Not making excuses just saying that we were very unlucky

The people who he was banging on the glass to were cheering for Miami. Btw Onion Man, who are the Brown Bears?

You know how many teams have said that this year? It's what we do. Miami had their chances... I thought we were playing well during the goal count collapse but kept letting guys in behind our defense. We all to a man assumed we were dead after the 5-min-major and we were grateful that the goal found its way in during overtime. That being said, we've done this stuff all year. Our team played this year off of fore-checking and counter-attacking so when we found a puck that bounced out that experience allowed us to capitalize on it.

Our fan-base is actually fairly adept... success may not happen too often but we're usually aware of what's going on.

If you think Miami played with any effort the first two periods you watched a different game than I. Outworked - yes. Unlucky - no. But if that helps you sleep betterat night than go ahead and believe it was simply luck...

Fangers.... outworked- no! that is the hardest I have ever seen this team play. Trent and the Hirch probably played the best games of their career as they were the only ones adjusting to the game's flow, or lack thereof. (don't believe me? go back and watch the film of volgelhuber taking the puck to the net and creating scoring chances or hirch making defensive plays all game long) Unfortunately simply giving 110% doesn't always equate to seamless, dominating hockey that we have come to expect. I'm saying that Lowell won because their style of defense was able to neutralize our top lines.
