Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Poverty -- all the money is hers
Obedience -- yes, dear
Chastity -- "headache"

Sorry but this seems kind of bizarre.

Obedience? Poverty? I get that the intention here is to signal devotion. But today's translation puts this messaging as at best unproductive and at worst destructive for each person involved in the vows.

It's a joke. Jesus people, I've only been married 3 years and I got that one.

For most married people today Poverty gradually comes as they decide they need Droids more than they need a 401k.

We have kids on my son's soccer team that can't afford the club fees or uniform fees but the kids have smart phones with data plans.

Some of us may be more put off than others but I don't mind if the wealthy doctor spends $300 to have his dog groomed, or his wife groomed for that matter...but the amount of people I know closely enough and I would estimate can't really afford the car they drive, the vacation they just took, the Xbox, the 3D TV, the multiple smart phones etc. concerns me more.

I don't know... there were vows involved, but these ones here sound suspiciously Catholic. Aren't these what you'd take at a nunnery? Or a monkery? We did have some stuff about sickness and health, etc.

Monkery?! Have you been watching Victor Borge again? :p

I have to admit, this whole joke, along with your reference, goes right over my head. I'm missing some vital background that would surely make it hilarious.

Selling guns to the cartels? Acceptable.
Potential Post-It Note monopoly. All hands on deck.

Thank you Eric Holder for protecting us from the truly dangerous things in life. You’re officially as bad as our previous three Attorneys General. I can't think of the last great (much less satisfactory) Attorney General we had... At least not in my lifetime.

Elliot Richardson was the last good AG. He left office almost 40 years ago.

Nobody's ever going to be worse than Alberto Gonzales. He was the Dan Quayle of AGs -- the absolute zero.

Victor Borge was a famous pianist and comedian. One of his common angles, growing up in Denmark and emigrating to the USA during World War II, was: "It's your language, I'm just trying to use it." He was discussing with a singer about some pieces of music found in a monastery, but was calling it "monkery" until the singer corrected him. He then went on to say, "Well, you can say nunnery, why can't you say monkery?"

Janet Reno was also pretty bad.

That is rather bizarre.

Its not bizarre so much in stopping a potential monopoly. But what's bizarre is that 'sticky' notes are a total commoditized product and there is no restricted access to paper. I don't know why one would be concerned with monopolizing paper products with zero barriers to entry. But I don't know anything else about the case.

My mother's all time favorite. He also did the bit with sounding out punctuation, also funny. I guess he was a world class pianist, but his performances generally only involved humerous, silly stuff at the piano. Truly a one of a kind.

Agreed. Which is why I think Eric Holder is giving Alberto a run for his money. Just a terribly run Justice Department. It's embarrassing.
