Anybody who has slogged throughy any of my posts knows I have no use whatsoever for Bill O'Reilly (because of his cruel treatment of Shawn Hornbeck), but this little set to on "The View" is really a look into the minds of two lib b*****s who prattle on endlessly about the First Amendment, but are willing to suspend the rights of anyone who "crosses the line" and implicates "Muslims" in 9/11. We all know it was Presbyterians, how can O'Reilly keep up the pretense? The trouble, of course, is those two obnoxious cows came back.

Did they have the gov't come in and shut up O'Reilly? I thought they just walked out on him. Childish? Yes. Restrictive of his 1st Amendment rights? No.

Overly Self-Righteous? YES! :D

You have to admit all six of those b*****s deserved each other. It would be nice if they got together every week.

They did what they could get away with. But we have to remember the rule: under no circumstances call a jihadi savage a savage.

Not an original thought in the bunch. A mystery to me this "program" is still on the air. But then, I'm not in the target demo.

Re: Obama XVI: Muslin curtains in the White House!!!

So now the president confesses there's no such thing as a "shovel ready" project--something some of us were screaming at the tops of our lungs while he was peddling that bilge to justify Porkulus. The only projects that would be "shovel ready" would be the ones already in the pipeline having undergone years of permitting and hearings and all the rest.

So, was he lying then or is he lying now. He's the smartest guy in the room, right? So why would he talk about projects he knew weren't "shovel ready?" Or, in the event he didn't know (at the time) there was no such thing, wouldn't you expect one of those Chicago leg breakers in his inner circle to wise him up? Then again, maybe they did. Either way, his credibility is shredded.

This shows he's human and can make mistakes.

Remember, the concern isn't whether or not his supporters will jump, its a matter of how high. These guys know they fooled a lot of people back in 2008... now they're only beginning to see that it wasn't so much that they fooled Americans but that many people wanted an alternative to GW which had the appearance of an intelligent thoughtful person. The Obama administration bought into their own abilities to lead people along than was really true in the first place.

Re: Obama XVI: Muslin curtains in the White House!!!

Change the names and dates you could have said the exact same things about junior and the GOP lemmings. Yeah, the current regime is currently failing imho, but clearly self-righteous indignation is never in short supply around either parties' campsites.

Fixed for accuracy.

Thought I'd bump this to the top with a quote:
“I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.”
Winston Churchill

Agreed, given a clean slate.

But we don't have a clean slate. All that borrowed money has to be paid back at some point. And it will be, by my generation and future ones. Thanks again, boomers. You selfish ********.

Speaking of Churchill-didn't our president send his bust that was sitting in the White House for years back to Britain? What was the reasoning behind that? I think I remember seeing it there during a tour years ago.

I believe he replaced it with a bust of Martin Luther King, jr. That's a fine choice, but I'm wondering, why does it have to be "either/or?" It's not like both figures aren't deserving. And I'm pretty sure there's room in the oval for two busts. If it's a matter of giving MLK the "preferred" position, fine by me. But why stiff Churchill? This was probably the greatest man of the 20th century (notwithstanding the ballot box stuffing by the Turks on behalf of Ataturk). "The battle of France is over. The battle of Britain is about to begin."

This uncertainty is the predictable result of an activist pipsqueak federal judge and her world view. Let's recall that "don't ask, don't tell" was a compromise. Bill Clinton wanted to end all restrictions against gays in the military. Now we have the SecDef and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs both espousing that view. And a president who wants to eliminate the ban, too. So what's wrong with letting the military decide how it will accomplish this change? Note, the judge says it's okay for the services to come up with apppropriate training as the change is implemented. How generous of her! The appropriate way to end "Don't ask, don't tell" is through congressional action.

Our uniformed services are among our most important and respected institutions and in many ways the manifestation of our desire for a society based on merit. Why not give the service chiefs the opportunity to study the matter and figure out the best way to implement what I see as an inevitable and appropriate change in their culture? Let's give them and the services they lead some respect, and not treat them like Bull Connor.

Yeah, we had it on loan from Britain for a while. I would guess he sent it back wanting to make a clean break from the past administration. I don't have a problem with it really.

It's a trick question!! He is a politician so he was lying both times. As for credibility, what had he done prior to winning the highest office in the land to demonstrate the ability to do the job?

Of course not. Why not answer my question: why does displaying a bust of Dr.King require returning the Churchill bust? We don't have room in our WH for two heroes? One cancels the other? What? And if, perchance, there's no room in the WH for the Churchill bust, it's not like we don't have lots of other places where it could be displayed. The president gets to chose the decor in his office, why does he choose to put the Churchill bust on the equivalent of the loading dock? Winston not important enough for him?

Actually, the president replaced Churchill with a bust of Lincoln. Who could object to honoring our greatest president? But the question remains, why does it have to be either/or?

Not you, obviously. Is it okay with you if some of us discuss it anyway?

Re: Obama XVI: Muslin curtains in the White House!!!

If Obama replaced the bust of Lincoln with the bust of a distinguished foreign leader, there might be some squawking. :)

It's a non-issue for me. As you mentioned, You don't have to explain putting memorials to previous presidents in the White House. For that matter, you shouldn't have to apologize for not having a memorial to a foreign head of state, however historic s/he was.
