Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Yeah...2 people have died in the state of minnesota that were linked to conceal carry permits. both incidents, a murder and a suicide (not a murder/suicide) happen in the individual's home so the permit really wasn't relevant, because we as americans do have the right to own a gun and keep it in our own home. but you want to make it sound like conceal carry is a horrible idea, you go right ahead.

So there is no chance that the multitude of unsolved murders were committed with conceal and carry? And it would be impossible for conceal to have impact on much more common bankrobberies, residential breakins and domestic violence or threats?

Really? You know that the overall impact of conceal and carry is just 2 people?

Hey look! It's a picture of you dodging all those stray bullets during that 394 commute of yours!

Don't you have something else better to do?

2 is too many but I wonder how many have been murdered with a knife? Do you need a permit to carry a knife in Minnesota?

You can face the guy with the handgun.

If conceal is so great for society...why do banks, airlines, many businesses and very tellingly government facilities all ban guns? Anyone?

Don't want to answer that question, eh?

Because they can?
I'll bet people with concealed weapon permits go into banks all the time. I'll bet people with concealed weapons permits go into gov't buildings all the time also.

Are you SURE there aren't monsters under your bed? Have you used a flashlight? Magnifying glass? Microscope? Black light? X-ray specs? 'cause I'm pretty sure there are monsters under there.

edit: major, i'm pretty sure a criminal isn't going to open-carry prior to committing a crime... law or not.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Patman, you forget that a lot of people who set out to murder someone are foiled by the fact that they cannot conceal their weapon ahead of time. I mean, shoot, if there's one thing murderers are all about, it's following the law.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Why is it when people have nothing to say...they still have a need to say something?

Don't want to answer that question, eh?

You asked about how many are killed by knives...MPR says most murders this year were caused by guns. Is 'most' murders enough to be concerned about them?

Because they can?
I'll bet people with concealed weapon permits go into banks all the time. I'll bet people with concealed weapons permits go into gov't buildings all the time also.

That's the point...these are the organizations who have a choice.

Supposedly conceal is so great for society. Yet many businesses and those with most at stake regarding security including banks, airlines, etc all ban guns. Don't you find it interesting that most government facilities ban guns?

As each of these had to institute new policies for a ban, these organizations obviously don't think a concealed gun makes them safer.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Have to side with WantMore here. I've lost a lot of respect for McCain. Not all of it. Nothing he does as a pol will erase his service in his previous lifetime...

But McCain has become the ultimate example of someone who has let Washington change them. It's obvious that it's no longer about public service with him. It's about how the public can serve him.

.

Are "most" done by folks who have concealed weapons permits? I kind of doubt that and I'll bet more folks are murdered by knives. Should knives be banned also?

Disgustingly inappropriate. Wish they'd shown where the strip club is located.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

More people have been killed by light rail than have been killed by conceal and carry permit holders.

Most of those who apply for these permits have been around guns their entire life and know the laws that pertain to them. The classes you have to go through don't teach you about the guns and what you can do so much as they hammer the mantra into you "Don't pull your gun, NO MATTER WHAT."

Quite frankly, your quest to turn everyone who so much as applies for a conceal and carry permit as a raving lunatic who is willing to brandish their weapon at the drop of a hat is disingenuous and pathetic.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

Ooh, a twofer: I'm a racist AND a teabagger. So much easier than thinking, isn't it, princess? I assume in this competition for the most racist thing you've ever read you're excluding Obama's description of his grandmother (the woman who raised him) as a "typical white person."

I guess it was Baptists who stoned a couple to death a few days ago in Afghanistan. And Cathloics who hang teenage homosexuals in public in Tehran. And Jews who videotape their handiwork when they behead people. And Presbyterian shrinks who murder a dozen helpless young people at an Army base in the name of their "god."

American Muslims are free to worship as they please, but their religion is not exempt from criticism, no matter how much you may wish it to be so, or why.

Well, it was a white Christian who blew up the federal building in Oklahoma. And the Olympics.

Honest question, in this case shouldn't we then oppose all mosques anywhere, since any of them would hold the potential for dangerous sermons and anti-American activities?

Certainly, but they'll(the wingnuts on this board) tell you that they aren't opposed to the Muslims being able to freely practice their religion. It's their Constitutional right.

As long as the Muslims only practice their religion where the wingnuts want them to.

Not really being able to practice freely now, is it?

That you know of...

Have more crimes, death threats and bank robberies been committed by light rail?

I wouldn't disagree that 'most' have permits have been around guns their whole lives. But what the law teaches is different than who the person is who has a gun. Many permit holders are fine...some are not. So with what's at stake, why allow conceal even if the majority of gun permit holders have experience with them?

Or better yet, why do large and public institutions with the most security at stake ban guns?

Roofy obviously hasn't been paying attention to my discussions about Masjid Manhattan and how their mosque is JUST FINE.

But one two blocks closer isn't. What's that, 200 feet?

Explain the distinction then. Why does one have you so apoplectic?

Neither one is 'at Ground Zero'.

Oh for ****s sake. How many people have been killed by the boogeyman!?! none, THAT WE KNOW OF!!!!

It's been explained ad nauseum. If you were to remove your head from your fifth point of contact, you might understand the difference.

Hint: it's not the distance.

Re: Obama XIV: President VISTA with SP2

The concealed carry debate has been settled for 15 years. See studies by John Lott, the FBI, and data out of Australia and Britain on gun control etc. etc. In every major study, it was shown again and again that guns in the hands of citizens (open or concealed) prevent crimes exponentially more often than abet commisssion of crimes. The felons and murderers are not the people undergoing the background checks and training for the permits.
It seems so obvious, and as I said it's been proven over and over, yet there are still thoughtless idiots here and there saying concealed carry by regular people is somehow a bad thing.
