We hear all this about how bad spending money to keep banks from going under is (when of course it helped bail the economy). How come we don't hear anything like this on the boards?

one of those odd political ironies. liberals (for the most part) want the mosque built. a mosque where the teachings will be anti women, anti gay, anti freedom of speech. we are horrified by Mormon polygamists, but accept it in Muslims.

It's because when you try to pander to "minorities" across the board, you're going to find a lot of contradiction. Non-Christians are minorities in the US, therefore, San Fran Nan and her sycophants are going to pander to them. Muslims trying to open a mosque in a controversial location? There's no question who they're going to support.
It especially becomes an issue when trying to pander to both homosexuals and African-Americans. There's a very strong support for Prop 8 in African-American communities.

I don't think you'd find anybody who WANTS the mosque built. You'll find more willingness to follow the laws and much less whining on the left, but that really isn't too surprising.
I'd certainly appreciate if the Repubs focused on our spending and would finally admit it's time to get out of our wars. I think we get it, Obama and the left are indecisive and weak. Now let's get back to issues that are a huge deal long term.

I personally agree with you however, our political leadership, in the form of Ms Pelosi, thinks the next step should be an investigation into the people funding people who expressed their displeasure with the mosque location.
How is that getting back to the issues that are a huge long term deal?
Nobody can rise above the urge to 'stick it to the other guy'...everybody wants to claim the high road, as they step into the gutter. It's like kids in the back of the car trying to get the last ear flick in before dad turns around...nobody can stop themselves.
Soon we'll have an investigation into the people who are investigating the funding behind the the people who were complaining about other people who had yet to do anything other than plan something.
And it isn't owned by one party...you can't really tell them apart by their actions...just the words.

The ever progressive state of Arizona passes a law protecting churches, mosques and such from city restrictions on where they can locate.

This at least in part came as a result of the city of Gilbert's misguded code which banned Christians from meeting in their homes. A family got cited by the city for having a few Christian friends gather in their home one evening. Once the story became public, the city backpedaled pretty quickly.

That's nice to get rid of the bureaucratic hassles, but passing such a law probably just brings them in compliance with RLUIPA and avoids some lawsuits:
