Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

presidents should be allowed to keep whomever they want around them

as far as I can tell he's allowed to do so and is free to do so... and still is. obama and/or jones made this call of their own volition... no force of law.

I know what you're talking about, and I think Obama/Jones did the exact wrong thing here. They should have told the Rs to go F themselves so the Ds could focus on running the government. Instead, they let themselves get baited into a political tinkling contest. Obama can't allow his agenda to be dictated and derailed by these jokers, especially over such a trivial issue - what does that say about his leadership? How will he stand up to them on something that actually matters next time (instead of what the assistant undersecretary deputy associate intern of polishing beebees may have said 5 years ago)? Weak sauce...

But mostly, shame on the Rs who even had the audacity to bring this up. This is not just a political game you're playing here - it's our freaking country.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

lynah & mookie... I hope that you're just saying things just to be humorous... and if not....

Van Jones has

Signed a 9/11 Truth Petition

Claimed that black kids don't commit "Columbines"

Extended the "bush hates blacks" Katrina meme

Became a communist in 1992 when people knew what it meant to be one

Part of the "free Mumia" movement

In regards to his record label Freedom Fighter Music he said

"We see violence against poor people and poor people of color within the U.S. border, at the U.S. border, and beyond the U.S. border and you see U.S. tax dollars funding all of it. And so we have this now global struggle against the U.S. led security apparatus and military agenda that impacts people here and impacts people around the world and I think that we need to see our problems as linked."

----

So, which parts of these aren't true? Which one of these scalding indictments is really just a trivial matter? This isn't a political game. These are the people who are running our government.

Which parts of these things are illegal? Which parts of these things affect his ability to perform his Green Jobs promotion role?

Edit: I'm guessing there were more than a few people in a Bush/Reagan administration that had said things critical of the US government, given that, you know, they're the party that is allegedly always trying to reign in its power...

Nothing. He could have kept his job if he'd wanted to - or more likely, if Obama had wanted him to.

Obviously, they're of the similar mindset that someone that close to the seat of power with that kind of a background is a total embarassment.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Text of Obama's speech for tomorrow is out. I skimmed it. He kept it clean of politics. No further objection from me, it's going to be OK. I am impressed with the restraint.

Don't tell the people of Detroit or Farmington they might have to accept they don't have brain one in their puny heads for once ;)

Its certainly not embarassing to Obama.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

The Clinton surpluses came at a time where we saw the biggest technological leap of our lifetime which cut down tons of inefficiencies in the markets. Think of a world without the internet... think of how that would negatively affect the economy. Of course we could also think of a world with cap & trade... whose entire existence is to hurt the economy.

Ah yes, I forgot...the internet disappeared the day GW entered office.

Well, if someone defeated your inventor to become President, wouldn't you take a leave of absence?

Here's what I want to know: why are the people on the far right suddenly concerned over a controversial resignation among the President's staff? Doesn't that strike anyone as odd? What's next, are far-leftists going to insist that its unpatriotic to question the President? Any other complete 180s from five years ago that we want to cover? What's the leftist version of "Freedom Fries"?
