Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

I find it amusing that you both seem to think that if you word things just right the other person will suddenly see the light and admit they're wrong.

Welcome to the internet.

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

You're so programmed to scream, "dirty liberal!" that you can't even recognize when someone isn't taking a liberal stance. I don't watch CBS news so why would I give a rip if you're criticizing them? I simply said 5 examples (again of which I've never doubted are real) of liberal bias over the course of 40 years isn't sufficient to make your point, that context and relativity do matter, and there's nothing ignorant nor uninformed about such a logical and practical devil's advocate approach to the subject matter. Stop pounding your chest, stomping your feet, take a deep breath, and then get over it buddy.

Thanks for the suggestion. Why don't you do the same. . .Socrates? Or should I say, Father Loyola?

It's amusing that you're both right and both wrong at the same time.
It's like dueling Hokydads in here tonight.

What was I right or wrong about? My point was imho the evidence provided wasn't over-whelming to the point of rendering the debate moot, so I wasn't trying to be right as much as make an observation. Not exactly worthy of microwaving popcorn but que sera, sera. :p

You're right that CBS doesn't have it in for the GOP. Old Pio is right that there's a leftward leaning tendency in the media that isn't sprung from the loins of evil Australians.

Just be glad SPIN didn't post that idiotic man with his head in a hole picture again. (it's up there with Twitch Boy and the spastic Ronald...)

So, if we took a poll of 1,000 journalists and asked who they voted for in the last election, folks on here think it would be 50/50?

No, but if we asked 1000 of their CEO's it would be slanted the other way. :)

Actually, we can't ask 1000 of their CEO's because most of the media in this country are owned by a handful of conglomerates.

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

Journalists often don't vote, and are told not to, to limit perceived bias of reporting.

ok, change it to who they would have voted for...would that be 50/50?

I'm not talking left wing conspiracy but I've never even suspected the average reporter/editor was 50/50 on all political issues.

That wouldn't mean a thing, if their coverage itself wasn't biased. If their peronal views slant the way they cover issues, then yes, it's a problem.

Still hasn't been demonstrated that there is a liberal bias, however, anyone can pick and choose a few random stories and claim their point is valid. You can only claim bias if you can show that it's intentional, otherwise, it could be just sloppy reporting.

Is it intentional when Fox news sticks the 'D' label after every Republican politician who gets caught in some kind of trouble? When they insert footage from Palin's campaign appearances and claim it's from her book signing tour? Or insert footage from a large liberal event on the Washington mall, and claim it's from a teabagger rally?

I dunno, you tell me. Just simple mistakes, right, don't mean anything.

Pew does a pretty good job of making the case that there is bias.

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

Negative coverage of McCain? That's your evidence?

The guy should have gotten negative coverage. "We're all Georgians now" "the fundamentals of our economy are strong"

Suspending his campaign to go back to Washington to deal with the crisis, and then not saying a word during the discussion until Obama directly asked him his thoughts. Choosing Palin as a runningmate?

Please, the guy ran a lousy campaign, and went back on just about every fundamental he'd built on in his career as a 'maverick'. Furthermore, he had little grasp on the issues, and what he did know, he couldn't convey in a speech to save his life. His dear in the headlights reading of the teleprompter, looking like he was watching a tennis match, left, then right, then left.

He was pathetic.

The press was negative toward Hillary too, especially when she spoke of dodging bullets in Sarajevo.

Well you'd have to determine whether being well educated as most journalists are would put them in the highly educated demographic that leans liberal tempered by the numerous journalists who have conservative ideals and those who work for Fox News.

I bet its closer to 50-50 than you think.
