Obama 7 - now what?

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

I mentioned this before but they're somewhat right about Hannity who pretends to give the news. Even O'Reilly's Bernie Goldberg segment admitted as much.

Why they would spend any time on the psycho Beck is beyond me. It's all folly anyway, anyone who can't watch both sides and figure out that their both biased is in lockstep anyway and can't be persuaded no matter how sound the argument.

What makes me angry is that O'Reilly back in the day (even though slanted as hell, and often as psycho as Beck just hidden in an insidious way) used to have an entertaining show. Now he spends ALL his time whining about NBC and the New York Times and with the White House whining it has consumed his entire broadcast.

Interesting. You're "angry" about O'Reilly and think Beck is a psycho. Analogous to being outraged at an editorial in your local rag or even a letter to the editor.

That's it? No comment about the WH trying to squelch the press?

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

Didn't you uys used to decry the GOP doing the same sorts of political stunts? Then let me throw a familiar retort back at you, why waste time with this Al Franken b.s. and pass the g** d*** health care reform.

Perhaps you missed the part where I was posting those links TO MAKE EXACTLY THAT POINT?!

Comment: It's dumb.

I believe the point many are trying to make is that FoxNews is hardly the press. ;)

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

Boo, hoo, hoo. Fox is picking on us and calling attention to our transgressions. Sniff, sniff, sniff. Big meanies.

But asked how Fox News was different from other news organizations, Gibbs mentioned the channel's 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows, in an explicit reference to "Beck" and "Hannity" -- even though those two shows represent opinion programming.

Shame on FOX. They should strive to have unbiased programs such as the 8pm and 9pm shows on MSNBC. :p

What a tool.

I don't disagree, but have you watched all the shows before? O'Reilly will not allow anyone to debate with him. He pulls this "I'll give you the last word" BS and then interrupts your opinion if he disagrees with it.

Every show on MSNBC that I have watched allows people to at least be able to state their case whether the moderator agrees or not.

That's the difference.

I don't know that Rachel Maddow gives people the last word, but I don't really care since she is So. Nerdy. Hot.

I know, nerdy lesbian hot. Sigh.

The difference is the people on Olberman and Maddow are all liberals so of course they let them have their say. Tell me when was the last time Olberman or Maddow had a conservative viewpoint on their show? O'Reilly and Hannity have liberals on their shows all the time.

That's the difference.

They have conservatives on all the time. Especially Rachel. Try again.

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

Franken was a bigger windbag than O'Reilly or Hannity could ever be...and none of the lefties ever complained about him (even though Weird Al made more disrespectful comments about *any* president than all the conservative talking heads put together).

I simply cannot believe the number of feeble-minded people up here that get offended by opinion shows. If I came in here and started complaining endlessly each day about what Whoopie said on The View, I'd be laughed off the boards - and rightly so.

Amazing that as a conservative, I get my fill of O'Reilly and Hannity *news* from Scooby and Foxton.

Change the channel and grow a pair - and that goes for Obama's toadies as well that can't seem to stop complaining about it.

It's not that Fox has opinion shows - it's that there's virtually no line between their 'news' content and their opinion content.

O'Reilly has lost me as a viewer. Does that show up in the ratings that he brags about all the time? And don't tell me to grow a pair. I have switched the channel, but that does not deny me my right to offer my opinion on what they offer and what they offer is a lie and insidious in its nature.

Like I said, his show used to be entertaining. Now it's just whining.

Fairest most balanced opinion shows on TV IMO are Morning Joe (MSNBC) and This Week on ABC.

I keep thinking, there's got to be more here than meets the eye, other than BNPPWO doing his best Nixon impression. I haven't figured it out yet. Ultimately, this public jihad against a news organization will redound against the administration. Journalists are nothing if not defensive about their collective prerogatives. Sooner or later a tipping point will come and many in the punditocracy (not MoDo, of course, she carrys the koolaid around in a canteen) will call BNPPWO out on this one. Just like many of them did on his ridiculous NPP.

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

By what law, regulation, etc. can the US Government determine the pay of a private company?

Wouldn't Franken be a more appropriate foil for Rush "Give-James-Earl-Ray-a-medal" Limbaugh than he would be for the Fox News talking heads? Just a nitpick, but even so, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Ignoring the troll that slipped out at the end and focusing on the part I bolded: You'd get laughed off the boards because you were (1) giving a crap about The View and (2) complaining about the journalistic integrity of the opinions given on a show that is just pandering to bored housewives.

I mean, come on... at least start whining about The Daily Show before you get to The View. (Unless you're retired) At least with the Daily Show, you'd have some sort of equivalence: Stewart and Beck/Hannity/O'Reilly at least have in common the fact that they're comedians posing as opinion men.
