".....My point is that CONFIDENCE is everything when everything else is more or less equal. Now, will that work again next weekend vs. Platty? Only time will tell but just getting there for this young team is enormous. Congrats to the NU Women's hockey team!"
I haven't read a more self indulgent post in ages. I only copied part of it because the rest of it almost made me puke. While you seem to think you have zeroed in on the key to this victory, try to remember the oldest truism in hockey, which is that goaltending is critical to any team's success in the playoffs. A little puck luck goes a long way to helping a team win games, too. At the end of the day in any sport, the better team doesn't always win. I'd say most people that know the game would agree that is the case in this instance. I have no ties to Middlebury or Norwich. I just recognize the better team when I see it. You don't outshoot a team 32-17 if you haven't dominated play. The same thing happened last night north of the border with Western upsetting McGill 5-0 in their women's hockey national championship. Hot goaltending at one end and opportunistic scoring at the other end with the "better" team losing the game. Shots were 38-15 for McGill.
