Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

Re: Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

I am so annoyed at NCAA! Heard from family members about how TERRIBLE the video feed was for the games ESPECIALLY yesterday's Norwich 3rd place game.

The camera was too close! You couldn't see the goalie or the net on shots. Whoever was behind that camera was drunk, because they couldn't find the puck. They said at one point the camera was showing the fans and blank ice, the camera was not even on a player let alone one with the puck.

Unacceptable! BAD JOB NCAA!!!! I'm sure they get the video feed right for Division I games!!!

Re: Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

Sorry, and one more thing...who was the announcer for these games in New York!

They said he talked about Plattsburgh season last year and everything but the game you were watching. During yesterday's game he was talking about Elmira's win from the night before! They said he gave up on Norwich after goal 4, said they had no chance. What the hell!!!!! If the announcer wants to hear himself talk, talk and give your opinions during intermission, when there is silence, not during the game. They said he actually called a Norwich Player by their number and what color shirt they had on-not their name!

Aren't the announcers for a NCAA tournament supposed to bias free!! Terrible Job NCAA!!!!!

Re: Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

Gee, a lot of "they said" in your comment. Did you not watch the coverage yourself? I actually thought the coverage was much better than in the past. The two games I watched (semis and finals) were very good. I'd like to have instant replays introduced in the future, but it looks like the NC$$ is making baby steps to improving each year. Well done everyone!!

I'm glad you brought that up. He was a paid NCAA announcer I'm sure. I was watching the game on the feed myself and to my total amazement, during the 2nd period as I recall, he also put in his 2 cents (representing NCAA?) saying that "after watching the video replay, the goal did not go in", or something to that effect, referring to the 2nd "controversial" goal vs Platty. (Maybe it's cards rule the burgh) Thus my earlier comment was validated when I said... "NCAA: Ok, move along as there is nothing to see here... "

And to think that the member schools pay this organization to spew out this garbage. Hey Tony ( the NU AD ), how about withholding payment to those !@##$% until they get it right, or god forbid, make it right buy admitting their mistake.

With reference to the goalie change, putting in Carrier for the 2nd half of the RF game for 3rd... frankly, having a soft spot in my own heart, I would of probably have done the same thing. As much as some wanted it to be a big deal (3rd place), I get the impression NU (Bolding) thought otherwise and gave some a chance to play and have fun, which in the end is what it's all about isn't it? There is no NHL for them when they graduate!

Anyways, the season is over and although I love summer, I'm already looking forward the the East West tourny come early November. Not sure how the 2015/16 recruiting season went but I hope we have a sniper or 3 coming in because if there was one element missing this season, it was someone who could bury the puck in the net day in and day out. Based on what we've seen from King and Robert, and with another good one coming on board to push the first two, I feel we have the tender situation covered.

Again, thanks for your comments womenplayhockey, and thanks to all who visited our humble little thread this past winter. Happy fishing, camping or whatever it is you all do during our great but short summer.

:)

Nope, wasn't me... But the replays have now convinced me it was NOT in, for the record.

Re: Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

When the dude said the teams were ranked in the Yoush-cho poll (USCHO) on Friday I knew it was going to be a long tournament.

Totally agree during the Norwich/UWRF game he spent more time talking about Plattsburgh and Elmira. Absolutely wrong. It was clear he just liked to hear himself talk. I didn't have the displeasure of him during the Championship game as I had to listen to the homer from Trinity on NSN.

One thing to remember, it wasn't long ago video feed to any game wasn't common. As crappy as the feed was, it sure beats watching LiveStats.

Still not a fan of women's hockey, but still a great accomplishment from all involved teams. On to 15-16 ......

You never had a daughter that played hockey then, right?

BTW, a big congrats to the NU Men's side for their fine season, too bad they didn't make it to their FF tourny. Speaking of which, I see men don't do a 3rd place game. So should the women drop theirs or should the men add it? I'm guessing it's been discussed somewhere but why don't the men do a "for 3rd" game?

Did I say that I don't respect it? No. I actually have a great deal of respect for the players. I just like the faster more physical game that the men play. Growing up in northern NY the whole women's hockey began to really take off late into my high school years. Having my son playing 8 and under, and my 3 year old little lady starting hockey in September, I've seen and fully support women's hockey but it doesn't mean its preferred by any means. I don't like/dislike a sport based on my childs participation, keep in mind this is coming from someone who would rather watch a DIII Men's game then a Professional game. As one of the girls said Thursday night "we are the final four teams remaining " I don't care what it is its an accomplishment

Oh I know what you mean Remy. I doubt I'd be watching women's hockey either had my daughter not played. So no worries sir, no insult given or taken. In fact, just look at the difference in attendence records between men's and women's games and it proves you are not the only one thinking like that. But I will admit that I do appreciate PSU's loyal fan base.

Truth be known, I take to these pages in hopes of stirring up interest on the women's side, "and now you know the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say!

Might I ask what you're doing in the women's forum then? I understand your preference, but seems to me this might be the wrong place for you... You respect the players, but not their game?... At least start a thread titled "the slow and non-physical women's game" to put all your thoughts... I'm sure it will be a big hit.

(For the sake of stirring things up)

Re: Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

I wonder how many people reading this are wondering "who the hell is Paul Harvey?"!

No wondering on my end, loved his "rest of the story" tales. Did learn something new today by looking him up:

"Harvey was born in September 1918, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The son of a policeman[4] killed in 1921"

Or got stuck listening to it in the car with your parents (who are older than dirt!)

My favorite part was how his voice would crack on the "Good day" part of when he signed off saying, "This is Paul Harvey...........Good day." (and I'm only as old as dust)

Re: Norwich university cadets 2014-2015

Moving on...

There's some chatter on the singing of the Canadian National Anthem and the rules NCAA has over not singing O'Canada on another thread and it brings up a thought that I've been wanting to mention.

But first, I think it's a great idea to sing both, like Norwich does. It demonstrates respect to our Canadian players (and parents) and for me, that's classy.

My only gripe is that our singer, Paula Gills, has, over the years, picked up her speed on the tempo or delivery of the song, both anthems for that matter. I just wish she would slow it back down under 70 mph, heck, there is always plenty of time left on the clock.

Just saying...

:)

To take it a step further, for any senior that is from a country not the US or Canada, Paula will learn that country's national anthem for senior day and sing it in that language. Pretty impressive.
