Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

I have have VHS tapes of George doing the NCAA 1987 final at Plattsburgh and Plattsburgh versus Moscow Spartak games. Fun to watch.

You mean you still have a VHS recorder. What's more do you really know how to set it up record a show? Wow. I am impressed. :)

+1

I've seen George from the time I first went to school at Dartmouth and he was on the predecessor of the current version of Channel 22 (WEZF-TV or maybe WVNY - it seem to have been both) in Burlington, covering the evil empire known as UVM hockey (some Dartmouth people can never get comfortable with UVM hockey and its defection Hockey Excess, er East). and finally showed up with the legendary Dave Moody as the voice of NU Hockey when Kreitzberg opened. He has alway been the consummate pro and always a pleasure to listen to, regardless of who his broadcast partner is, and certainly has become associated in most people's mind as the voice of Cadet sports.

What ever happened to Tony Adams?

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Tony Adams only did WCAX-TV, I don't remember him doing any PBP, and I go back to the early 60's. In fact I think it was 1961 when I was on Dance Date that he EmCeed. "Good Night...Good Sports.":)

Tony retired several years back - replaced by JJ Cioffi who also retired. The most experienced guy in the market now is Ken Drake at WPTZ (Ducky's son).

Pasha is working for a Civil Engineering firm located in Middlebury VT. I saw him several weeks before X-mas and he informed me he was working some games which included both men & women hockey games. He was doing some of the men's Middlebury games and also said he would not do Norwich men's games. Another interesting point was he was going to take a trip home for a little while. His home listed on the Norwich hockey web site is Kharkiv Ukraine. With all that is happening in Ukraine it is nice to see he is in Vermont.:)

He did do a Norwich women's game though.

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

What a great game last night from two prospectives. The Cadets looked solid most of the way, controlling the game, getting their shots...and getting them in the net and their power play was working.

Castleton for their part did not throw in the towel but stayed with this game right up to the last moment--making this a real rivalry. Congratulations Spartans for a great game.

What I liked maybe most were the post game handshakes with opponents warmly shaking hand, pausing for a word of congratulations and a few slaps on Chris Czarnota's back by Castleton players. That is sportsmanship :) On the flip side, I watched the last few moments of the Babson/UMass and the Beacons ended the game with four guys doing a stretch in the box.

NU/Castleton was great stuff but as Puck Voice said, "Those last ten minutes couldn't move fast enough for Norwich fans...." And understatement.

Next up Babson with the Jamie Murray Show coming to Northfield for a return engagement. He is a great goalie for sure but Chris Czarnota numbers are equally impressive. Should be an interesting game between two great teams which I shall be watching from Mexico--just to give it an international audience. Vamanos Cadets!:)

Highlights from yesterday's ECAC East Semifinal doubleheader at Kreitzberg Arena

Great games, great coverage of both, and I'm thrilled to be back to "full time" status as an NU fan again after a few issues. Looking forward to another doubleheader next week. (Still prefer the drama of a Final Four format, but I'm old school)

Re: Norwich Cadets '13-14 - A New Look Forward

Last night in the game against Castleton, I sat right across from the net Norwich's Czarnota was defending for two periods. That was a first for me and was totally amazed at how quick Chris was to make a save, recover and make another save. The last 45 seconds seemed a life time but he was moving faster than the speed of light. Congrats to him for having such a great game. Also, to the whole team, the 5 on 3 penalty kill was awesome.

When do the tickets go on sale for next Saturday? I don't want to miss the Norwich/ Babson ECAC final!

Any news on Alec Thieda's hand, hope it's a minor injurey and he'll be back next week.

A truly amazing end to the regular season! The Streak lives! Congrats Cadets ... on to the second season

Oh, and thanks St. Mike's!

I think McShane may owe St. Mikes a couple good leads on recruits after that tie with Babson.

I would like to see St. Mike's get better so they can tire out Norwich's Saturday opponent.

Oh it would be so nice to be able to start saying again

" They went 0 for Vermont "
