Norwich 2024-25-Is this the year it turns?

Watching the poor quality stream. The speed of Hobart is the first thing you notice. Molu gets hisself out of position when he goes to the ice. Hobart shouldn’t and didn’t let that slide. 1-0 Hobart.
 
I watched most of that first game. Hobart is real good. I imagine some of their players could play D1 hockey. There is no shame losing to this team. I thought the first goal was due to Molu getting out of position. The team did seem composed, that is important.

Tough schedule for the Cadets the rest of the way.

No one can solve the Hobart buzzsaw so no shame there. But NU has a lot to play for against all the teams around them in the standings with these last eight games.

Depending how it shakes out, could finish anywhere from 2nd to 7th it feels like.

Feel like most likely finishing spot barring a complete collapse is 4th or 5th.

yes, I believe they had 2 go to D1 this year,I know one went to Brown...

We lost 2 of our best offensive players, Artem Buzeverya(Ukraine) to Bentley where he has 12 points so far this year and is a Grad student, Tanner Hartman was a big loss to Brown and has 2 points so far this year and is a Junior. I can't even imagine how good we would be if both of these players stayed this year. Coach Taylor not only does a good job recruiting to a little city on the Finger lakes AND they skate in THE COOLER, it shows you that players are attracted to culture and good teammates and winning. I'm worried when it comes to the tournament because one game and you're out....you can't count your chickens.....

Massive weekend for the Cadets at Babson for two. Getting at least 3 points would go a long way in trying to stay in the top 3 in the standings. Anything less could put them down a path towards needing to fight tooth and nail just to lock in a home quarterfinal game with Salve, Albertus and Elmira all nipping at their heels and head to head meetings still to come with Elmira and Salve.
 
Cadets got three points last weekend and did the baseline of what they needed to stay in control of a home quarterfinal game. However, this weekend starts the string of six straight games against three teams nipping at their heels in the standings looking to move up into those top four spots.

Salve is only one point back, but Norwich has two games in hand on the Seahawks. Norwich taking three or more points would all but eliminate Salve's chances of trying to move past the Cadets.

I'd say Norwich is looking to get 8-9 points to lock in a home quarterfinal game over its last six games. Anything less and they are leaving the door open to be jumped by one or multiple teams.

Should be an exciting finish.
 
NU didn’t deserve to win. Too much gliding / coasting and uncertainty. OMG I have the puck..”now what do I do?” So hard to breakout with momentum when they’re constantly pausing for the puck along the boards. Salve’s clearly a much better, harder skating team.

Maybe so but it was a helluva Friday night to watch them score five goals for an OT win! I hope I see five more today!

"demise" buddy take a trip to ur nescac neighbors at Middlebury they reached far higher peaks than Norwich ever did and I'm sure they would kill to have a roster with 19 frosh that have a winning record in a difficult conference and are joining a mid conference next year where it biggest competition is babson and Plymouth state.

Not concerned about Middlebury. My focus is on NU’s return to greater success. Regarding today’s game, I’m thrilled it was only 5-1.
 
Norwich ended up getting 2 points on the weekend with the OT victory Friday. 6 points left on the table against two teams nipping at their heels in the standings.

Salve jumped NU by one point for third place, but Salve has played two more games.

NEC has won 7 out of its last eight games to rise from the dead this year and move into 6th place currently, just two points behind NU.

Skidmore is one point back and NU will close the season at Skidmore for two.

Elmira comes to Northfield this weekend and they have gone cold. 3 points at minimum is in order for Norwich to have a realistic shot at a home playoff series I feel.

2 or less and I think Norwich will need to take 4 or more at Skidmore, which seems like a tall order right now.

2nd through 8th could bunch up even closer these next two weeks as Babson and Salve will both have their bye weekends.

Should be an exciting last two weekends to close out the NEHC final season.
