Norwich 2024-25-Is this the year it turns?

Personally I was hoping for a home playoff game when the season started. Tying and losing to NEC is a new low. FThey are looking like a $5 a game team. Pretty soon Good Measure will pull out due to lack of revenue. Fire Ellsworth immediately. The way it’s going, the football team could beat the hockey team in hockey. Embarrassment!

Norwich is taking on water in all areas: budget, enrollment, athletics, and morale. President Broadmeadow has a huge lift in front of him, and hopefully will be able to right-the-ship before the University goes bankrupt.

Rich Schneider and his minions left the cupboards bare across the board… this is what happens when a few have the power and no one asks questions!

I don't see how you can blame President Schneider. When he left, the money was still there. It is more likely that COVID expenditures were the problem.

Schneider and his minions were more focused on the “Schneider Vanity Project” , aka The Bicentennial Campaign, and they took their eyes off the ball of what was most important: enrollment, expenses, and building a solid alumni base. They spent millions of $$ on the campaign and now they’re paying the price. Yes, Covid had a major impact, but so did hiring a bafoon like Anarumo and Schneider allowing the university to go into a ditch. It’ll be years before Norwich recovers and they’ll always be struggling with the athletics issue(s). A university can only rely on their great rink and great coach for so long… the cost of a game ticket is outrageous for the product they’re putting on the ice, and it’s not a winning formula to use the arena as a source of revenue on the backs of the NU Hockey Faithful!

Only two goals in the last four games. OMG, the rapid decline of this program since McShane retired is tragic and unaffordable to Norwich. The failed experiment that is Ellsworth.

It’s time we start booing Ellsworth. Maybe he steps down due to the shame. I mean the guy refuses to show his face. Still masking up, four years removed from COVID.

You guys sound like entitled Ohio State football fans.

It's pretty effin bad. It's not just the losing but a coach who plays a garbage brand of hockey and doesn't care about the community. We've heard all about the hardships of financial aid and everything but financial aid has no bearing on the team being active members of the college and town. It also doesn't make the coach sit back in a damn trap 3/4 of the time.

You can't have it both ways. If financial aid is hampering recruiting, perhaps the coach is running a system that gives them a chance to win due to the resulting lack of talent? Or did that not occur to you? Or would you rather lose 6-1 than 2-0?

Ha, Norwich is tied for 84th in goals scored with 10. NEC (86th) has 7 goals, three of which were scored against NU. Yikes folks!

Last night was decent, although they did let Southern Maine back into the game. Luckily the scored right after the second SM goal.
Tonight a slow start, but did pick up the pace of shots after the first. Not as much scoring though.
The thing that bothered me most, when the shootout went past three rounds, was how it was handled by the coach. NU was shooting second, and had plenty of chances to take the shootout. But how do you not have your best shooter not take a turn?????

Folks, expect few if any ties / wins following the break. It will take years for talent to trust this program again, if it’s even possible. The team’s cheerleaders have even been silenced.
