Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

I didn't quote you, seems like after every game where something happens slightly out of the ordinary, some yahoo northeastern fan jumps on here and says "ZOMG were rivals now!!!!"

For the record, I'd love to be known as a yahoo; that's what it's all about in THEDOGHOUSE. Thank you for clearing that up for everyone. I know it's been 9 years since you haven't made the semi's, so if you need a tissue let me know.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Your crazy if you really think theres not a rivalry lol

lookit.

do our teams play each other often, yes.
are they in close proximity of each other, yes.

but as someone below already typed, how often has nu beat bu in anything that mattered? tonight is 'one'. go back to find #2?? i'm thinking 1988 beanpot final :p.

y'all have a similar outcome the next couple seasons, we'll talk again. but one sided 'rivalries' usually, aren't.

(not to even mention that i have a particular slant to only being able to have A rivalry. we always giggle when people throw out the gophs are their rival.. bucky, sioux, duluth.. they all want to claim umtc as THEIR rival. well for the gophs that is kinda silly, no? -- so while we have the igles as ours, that's it. now maybe if they continue to go 4-0 over us for the next five years and win a couple more NCs and all their tough games are against uhn, mc, and whomever... then y'all will default to our 'rival' as we play tough games in the beanpot consolation game and a few more 4-5 or 3-6 he qf's.. but until then......)

I feel like your argument just consists of you win most of the time so it cannot be a rivalry.

I disagree.

Who brings the loudest and most fans to Agganis? NU or BC?

no. my argument is for it to be a 'rivalry', both sides have to feel that way. you can certainly say your side brings louder fans and more fans to our rink. you may think of us as your biggest rival.

but we don't care. "oh, it's nu tonight? should be a win. they generally suck....and are goons."

sorry.

BC. Agganis always sells out everytime BC comes in, so BC technically brings in the most fans. When's the last time a BU-NU game sold out at Agganis?

Minus the breaks it would probably have been close to a bang out all three nights. Theres a certain aura above BC-BU. It doesn't mean that NU-BU can't be a rivalry also.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Rivalry or not...the way the NU fans took over Agganis and the way the NU coach and players acted after that win...if I was a BU player I'd sure as hell want to take it to them next year and as a fan I feel the same way

OBVIOUS PROBLEM #1 -- a bu player should have made sure it didn't happen tonight.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Northeastern. But that's not what makes a rivalry. Your fans travel really well. Don't you bring a lot of fans elsewhere?

You know, I had no issue with the lots of NU fans and your band over the series. Didn't mind any of the chants, the "Shut Up Parker" didn't bother me in the least. The "Let's go Jayhawks" chant today made me roll my eyes, but whatever. BU's going to the dance and NU isn't so I can let that slide. :) What did bother me was the "Get off the ice" when the BU players were saluting their fans after it was all over. That was......wrong. I know you guys are better than that and I know if the situation was reversed, and BU fans did that at Matthews, we would never hear the end of that. From you guys and everyone else.

That said....congrats on winning the series. Your team really rose to the occasion when it mattered and earned that trip to the Garden. I think it would be really awesome to see a NU-Merrimack final, so you know that won't happen, but still......see what you can do to make that happen!

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Thanks Scarlet! :)
and congrats on being the only team in town going to the dance..

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Not who brings in the most fans, who brings the most fans. Big difference there.

Well bringing in more fans is more relevant to it being a rivalry than what teams brings in the most of their own fans. BU-BC always sells out, no matter the venue, whether its Conte, Agganis, the Garden, or Fenway. It's the biggest game on both teams' calendars. NU brings in more of their fans to BC than UNH and Maine, and even in some years (2009-2010 for example), BU. Do I consider NU more of a rival than any of those teams? Not at all.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

A misunderstanding which I thought it was going to end up being all along... well handled in the end by two great coaches that care greatly about both their teams.

You are right BCFan. Most BU fans would consider Maine, UNH, and even some OOC teams (Cornell comes to mind) bigger rivals than NU.

Regarding handshakegate... Totally bush league. I'd like to hope that the refs waved them off the ice, but I didn't see it... The only person waving them off was the assistant coach.

Can't say I'm cheering for NU over BC after that display. Ill put on my Eagles hat for that game.

Really? A head coach grabbing a player on the opposing team is handling it well?

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Nothing but class from Parker there. Real nice of him to go over there and congratulate NU even after they were taunting the BU players without a handshake. Pretty classless by the whole NU team there. Cronin should have never touched Clendening. The kid is going to be upset and grabbing him won't help at all. It took Bavis a while to calm him down after that but he was still going to go through line with the rest of team. Cronin might want to take a class on decision making in the near future...don't grab players on the other team, keep your team disciplined and away from taunting, and don't text recruits illegally. He is on a roll lately...that being said NU dove enough to win the game tonight so congrats on flopping all over the ice.
