Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

NU played well enough to have it be a great hockey game without diving and bringing officiating into the game which is never a good thing in HE. and Ryecheers, I read boston hockey blog and have the right to draw my own conclusions from it. I was at the game and I saw what happened at the end of the game. Complete lack of class I would say the same thing if my team acted that way. NU played a clean game besides the diving which was unneccessary. You just hate BU and anyone who defends them. Why dont you take a step back and look at your own team? played well on the ice but what separates you from the upper hockey programs in the country is how you handle winning which you did with taunting. You will never see a BC, Denver,Wisconsin,BU..etc team taunt their opponets after a win and be forced to leave the hand shake line.

Dude, you are such a sore loser. As if BU didn't embellish this series either. Really, do you understand how sports work? Bobby Orr once said if you aren't selling it, you aren't trying hard enough...every team sells calls in every sport. All I ask for is consistency from the officials.

What separates 'me'? Sorry, I'm not on the team, you want to start that crap, come to our campus and go find them individually. I don't control their actions.

Take note of the other BU posters in here responding with actual sense.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Based on the # of responses & pains taken by each side to go through the rigors of it all on this & several other Husky-Terrier threads.. I'd have to say we have some BU (and NU) fans in denial.. but the players on the teams.. they are not :)

Well what the heck.. we might have the makings of something in the future. We gotta continue playing well for them to hate us.. (tall order). but hey, ya gotta start someplace..

mpereira.. forgot to take your chill-pill again :)

Not sure what the first line meant, but I commend your mentality growing up as "the northeastern fan." I didn't grow up here, but it's not hard to see that BC and BU dominate the college hockey press, have dominated the Beanpot, and both program's successes have grossly overshadowed that of Northeastern. It takes balls to grow up constantly rooting for the underdog who never wins (says the Whaler fan) when every other one of your friends is arguing over who is more likely to win the national title, and you really have no basis to be thinking about that. So cheers to you for sticking with it.
Funny part is I was a BC fan extremely early on and then at one point we picked up the tickets at matthews... in no time before I knew it I was converted. I had my choice of championships vs. Nu and I picked a poisen alright! Haha.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

is this your fans' mission, to create a rivalry with BU?

I didn't quote you, seems like after every game where something happens slightly out of the ordinary, some yahoo northeastern fan jumps on here and says "ZOMG were rivals now!!!!"

NU BU has been a rivalry for long before this year

Not sure what all the fuss is here. In recent years, BU/NU has turned into a rivalry IMO. You can have more than one. With NU potentially ending BU's season, it's certainly taken another step towards being a legitimate one.

1. Clendening shouldn't be yelling at the opposing coach
2. Cronin shouldn't grab an opposing player

Amazingly, I can't find Parker at fault for anything here! ;)

Nothing but class from Parker there. Real nice of him to go over there and congratulate NU even after they were taunting the BU players without a handshake. Pretty classless by the whole NU team there. Cronin should have never touched Clendening. The kid is going to be upset and grabbing him won't help at all. It took Bavis a while to calm him down after that but he was still going to go through line with the rest of team. Cronin might want to take a class on decision making in the near future...don't grab players on the other team, keep your team disciplined and away from taunting, and don't text recruits illegally. He is on a roll lately...that being said NU dove enough to win the game tonight so congrats on flopping all over the ice.

Dude, you are insufferable. First of all, Clendening deserves blame just as much as Cronin. As a player, you don't tell the opposing coach to shut up, especially when you have no clue what he's talking to the ref about. Secondly, having seen BU many times this year, you can't call any team out for diving. I didn't see you complaining about the officiating in games one and two where BU was racking up the PP chances.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Yup!

Well good night guys, a great series between solid teams. Its a shame we couldn't have a 5 or 7 game series. Good discussion tonight.

Enjoy the experience at the Garden. I'd say good luck, but BU's faint hopes for an at-large bid rest on there being no upset auto-bid winners like Northeastern. So just have fun.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Over/under 4.5 pieces of trash Northeastern fans throw on the ice when BU beats them this weekend and ends another trophy-less season but hey look at the bright side, Atlantic hockey will probably have a down year next year so maybe you'll go 1-2 instead of 0-3 against them...

Good call :D

Sorry, I was correct, played in like 1000 games in my life see below. Fans should not try and determine what they think is hapopening on the ice form 75 feet away. This is how it really went down., much like I suggested.

Per the gane recap on this site...see below.

"Some minor controversy ensued after the final buzzer, mainly due to an odd decision by the officials as well as some miscommunication. With some relatively minor tussling going on, the referees ordered Northeastern to leave the ice without shaking hands. This led BU to assume that it was Cronin’s decision, and BU players started jawing about it being a classless move.

Cronin said he completely understood why the Terrier players felt that way. Parker visited the Northeastern locker room afterward to congratulate them, and all was well. Much ado about little."

We really don't care about shaking hands or what anyone is saying. The refs sent the players off the ice without shaking hands; it was not a coaches or players decision. Hat's off to Northeastern who generally played better hockey and took 3 of 5 games from BU in the last week all the wins on BU home ice. Clearly BU is not an NCAA caliber team this season, because if they are, NU is too, they had better goalie over 3 games and I think that was the difference. Word from the other side of the fens is that Cronin set a goal the day he got back, simply end BU's season, by loosening 3 of 5 to an unranked opponent down the stretch, they have some degree of season validation and will be a difficult foe for BC on neutral ice.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

I'm not the only BU poster here telling you that we don't really consider you anything more than a third tier rival at most.

Rivalry Tiers, how fun!

In the spirit of things, I'll take a crack at NU's Rivalry Tiers.

Tier 1
BU
- Classy fans on both sides, classy coaches on both sides, and one side vehemntly denies the existence of the other side. It's got all the trappings of a Tier 1 Rivalry.

Tier 2
Acadia University
University of Prince Edward Island
University of Toronto
- Spirited pre-season games, enough said.

Tier 3
Wentworth Institute of Technology
- We hate technology institutes, they hate the depth of our co-op program, and we share way too much of Huntington Ave. This thing was bound to get ugly.

So I guess the Prince Edward Island Institute of Technology Fighting Kelp aren't high on your list?

You know what, I hate kelp. I always have, especially if it's the fighting variety. Throw 'em on the list.

So long as we don't choke like in 2009 against Lowell. Granted we can't choke against the best team in the nation...
