Really? A head coach grabbing a player on the opposing team is handling it well?

I know Parker is a Saint and all, but does anybody else remember when Parker went after and grabbed a member of the Doghouse that was heckling HIM?? I do. Ohh, yeah and remember last year when BU knocked NU out of the playoffs on the final day of the season and Parker (who claimed he didn't realize) was taunting the NU players about "good luck next week" in the playoffs??? Yeah, that Parker is a real class act too.

You really would have loved to rip into your Terriers had you been around in 2006 to cry in front of the newspaper photographer while your players were trying to injure and goad a BC team moving on to the Frozen Four with a 5-0 score on the scoreboard.

And then he said after the game how bad he felt for saying that, because he didn't know that Northeastern was knocked out of the playoffs, since it required a whirlwind of scenarios to occur, which did indeed occur to knock them out. Technically, BU did not even have a playoff spot clinched going into that game, and ended as the #3 seed. That said, this incident is a whole lot of hullabaloo over what amounts to nothing. Cronin shouldn't have grabbed Clendening, Clendening shouldn't have been yelling at the coach. The NU players probably should've just respectfully skated off the ice without incident as is customary for the road team. End of the season stuff, lots of frustration, Parker and Cronin made up when Cronin explained the officials were the ones behind the situation, Parker made sure to personally congratulate the NU players. Much ado about nothing. Nothing particularly over the top classless, just a lot of understandable frustration and misunderstanding.

Never said that he was or wasn't...but interesting that your defense of Cronin's actions is "well other coaches grab players too!"

In the end both sides were in the wrong, but I'm surprised people are for the most part going easy on Cronin. In this day an age if you grab a kid on your own team in public you get ripped...I for one would've thought that the fallout would we even worse for an opposing coach

Obviously Parker was wrong when he grabbed the kid, but I believe him when he says he didn't know NU was eliminated. I don't even think Parker would joke about something like that (well, maybe if it involved BC )

First of all, the "instigator" in all of this was Clendening for yelling at an opposing coach and not even knowing what that coach was talking to the ref about. Obviously, there is no defense for grabbing an opposing player.

From what I remember, it would've taken all sorts of ridiculous outcomes and included something like a five way tie for 5th or something like that, with HE's fuzzy tiebreaker rules that were unclear at the time. I'm pretty sure in Todd's in/out thread last season, going into the final regular season game at Matthews, BU's potential finish number was [3-9]. Northeastern couldn't get home ice, but could finish in 9th, and had the BU-NU game gone into OT, Cronin would've had to have an assistant paying attention to the other games because things had fallen into place where NU needed a victory or their season was over, so he would've had to pull his goalie in OT to try and save the season.

No, BU had a spot clinched going into that last game, but they could still finish anywhere from 3 to 8. They didn't have a spot clinched going into the series, though.

If you're rooting for BU to sneak into the tournament, I can't see a way that Northeastern beating BC helps BU at all, and only puts them one step closer to stealing an auto bid, which cannot happen in order for BU to have a shot.

BTW, you know something is off when the BU fans are complaining about other teams flopping on the ice and diving. If that's not the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is!

And yet another argument that I didn't make....another PSA perhaps?

But since you brought it up, yes officiating is horrible, and every team dives/tried to draw penalties. I think the majority (all but 1?? even) of the BU fans agree with this and would say there was an equal assortment of good penalties, bad call/no calls, and dives. It's all expected in any hockey east game and you guys were able to overcome it. BU wasn't.

If you're rooting for BU to sneak into the tournament, I can't see a way that Northeastern beating BC helps BU at all, and only puts them one step closer to stealing an auto bid, which cannot happen in order for BU to have a shot.

It would actually help BU if Northeastern beat BC and then lost to UNH/MC because NU would most likely become a TUC and therefore help BU in the pairwise.

No because they are 2-3 against NU this year. That would lower their winning percentage as far as TUC.
