Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Definitely no live games on NESN or anywhere else tonight. NESN takes one game per quarterfinals. Both games next Friday on NESN and the championship on NESNplus.

Good question as to which is a "bigger" game. The Beanpot game meant more historically. I'm just as nervous as I was that night. I hate bu more than I hate bc and I want to end their season. I'd have to say the Beanpot because that would have had more meaning to a lot more people.

Pathetic. In case anyone is interested, NESN will be showing reruns of "Charlie Moore Outdoors" tonight instead of, what amounts to, a NCAA elimination game. Thanks NESN!!!

BUtanga should put more on CBS college sports, better production, HD, etc...

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Question for NU fans: bigger game for your Huskies, Beanpot final vs. BC or tonight's game vs. BU?

I hope the team understands that tonight's game is bigger and I hope the top senior line plays like it is.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

In order to try to influence the outcome, I'll bring up the fact that I recently watched parts of the 1995-96 game early in the season when BU scored 5 SHGs against the Huskies. Jay Pandolfo, of course, had the SH Hat Trick, D

After the game -- and Pandolfo's shorty trick -- NU's coach (Ben Smith, a former BU assistant) cracked to the press, "You know, we were almost able to survive our last powerplay."

In fairness to NESN, it's incredibly costly to travel way up to Orono for a single televised game. WAY too costly.

Oh...wait...

Funny quote. The Huskies also gave up two SHGs to BU the night before at Matthews. What did we end up with that year, 23 SHGs? It was pretty ridiculous.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

With no other H.E. ganes this evening it will be interesting to see which officials Jack picked for tonights game. :D

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

I can't wait to hear what happened at the end of that game. The NU announcers sounded P.O'ed at the NU team for not shaking hands and taunting the BU players. They said it was a classless way for them to win. And they were talking about their own team. Can't imagine what the BU guys were saying...

Huskies!!!

Can't wait to hear about what happened after the game

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

hmmm. i turned off the radio after it became 5-2.

i think it'll be impossible to see, but a mc - nu final would be pretty neat.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Little too close for comfort at the end.. but would you expect anything else the way these 2 have duked it out this yr.. some of the referiing this wknd.. uh.. nevermind.

Well.. ugly or not.. this one is solved.

I thought that last Terrier hit was unnecessary. Anyway, NU had better understand good teams fight until the very end & the Eagles (like BU), are that type of team. Never let up! (i started walking out at 5-2, then it sunk in.. this is us & it ain't over till its over..)

(Onion, Gentry).. our biggest gm is the one after tonight.. win or lose, hopefully its a barnburner.

Will be a nice drive home tonight.
G'luck to BU. Was a nice ..er non rivalry type of series :)

Way to fight on the road NU :) Night all.. Go Huskies!

That was an absolutely horrible intepretatiom of what happened. Sebastian LaPlante directed them off the ice because cronin and parker were going at it right in the middle of the ice! Classless? They were following a coaches direction. Amateur broadcasting. LaPlante was right to do it. Avoiding stupid suspensions with all the nonsense going on between the two teams.

By the way, Cronin went on to shake hands with the BU team AFTER.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

We really don't care about shaking hands or what anyone is saying. The refs sent the players off the ice without shaking hands; it was not a coaches or players decision. Hat's off to Northeastern who generally played better hockey and took 3 of 5 games from BU in the last week all the wins on BU home ice. Clearly BU is not an NCAA caliber team this season, because if they are, NU is too, they had better goalie over 3 games and I think that was the difference. Word from the other side of the fens is that Cronin set a goal the day he got back, simply end BU's season, by loosening 3 of 5 to an unranked opponent down the stretch, they have some degree of season validation and will be a difficult foe for BC on neutral ice.

Yes, that's what the radio guys said happened. They sounded mad that LaPlante directed them off the ice and that the players didn't shake hands. They also said Cronin had his hands on/touched one of the BU players (Clandenning?) and were afraid Cronin could get suspended again. They made it sound like NU was in the wrong and were upset that NU could've put a black mark on their win. Again, this is coming from the NU perspective, NOT the BU perspective.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

This is how it went down minus all the he said she said:
Game ends scrum behind net involving clendening and others. Breaks up slowly. Cronin walks towards his team celebrating by NU net. Next thing we know clendening and cronin are exchanging. Referees hold them, then parker ends up over there and parker + cronin are yelling at each other for a good 4 minutes. LaPlante directs NU team off ice while the head guys go at it. The head guys end the exchange and parker stands there and yells at a ref and had to be restrained. (I think parker thought time may have beeen left on the icing??) While that continues cronin shakes hands with BU team.
