Worked out fine all around IMO.
Credentials are one thing, but Idalski's ego overrides common sense and the ability to lead and treat the team as a unit. Not all players are treated equal, and I'm not referring to ice time. The Lams have hurt the team more than they have helped. I find it quite fitting that U of MN won the title after ridding themselves of the twins.
My intention is not to speak ill of the twins, they are who they are. Idalski attempted to take a short cut, and in doing so sacrificed the team. You can't build a winner when one (or two) players are above the team. Coach Frost also took his chances with the twins, and after two seasons realized that the inmates shouldn't run the asylum.
I sincerely wish UND luck down the stretch.... For the sake of those that are the future of the team.
Completely agree with the skills / talent thoughts of yours. I would never anticipate or expect their talent would be disregarded per any concerns over an undisciplined play factor that USA Hockey gurus may have. As a USA fan I want them on any national team. The physical component of their game is not entirely without merit. Even more so at the highest level of international play IMO.Probably as much (or more) than anyone looking at this, it really bothers me when I see players taking really unnecessary penalties at critical junctures of games. How often have I said (Brooky?) that "the only way we lose this game is if we take some dumb penalties" (fortunately, as Gopher fans, this really hasn't been much an issue this year, as of yet). And having seen a number of U of M vs. UND battles over the past three years, I've witnessed both Lamoureux's taking their share of ill-timed penalties in those meetings. HOWEVER, that in no way diminishes the respect I've gained for the tremendous talent both of them possess, and I fully realize that the Gophers' task of beating UND would be a whole lot easier if they were not in their lineup. I agree that when it comes to taking unnecessary penalties there is room for improvement, but on balance I believe their many strengths outweigh and overcome this one (major) negative.
It will be interesting to see, when it comes time to selecting the final USA Olympic team this coming year, if the decision-makers agree. I suspect they will...

No, your understanding of the situation is correct: one year at Minnesota; transfer to UND and enrolled while taking a year off from NCAA for 2010 Olympics; currently in their third and final season at North Dakota. Not following the "Two seasons" part.....IIRC, they left Minny after their Freshman year. Did I miss something ?.

Discipline starts at the top. Lams have been undisciplined since they got to UND and it has hurt the team on more than one occasion yet they still get double shifted on a regular basis. Coach needs to have a set and sit their butts on a shift or 2 after a stupid untimely penalty. Probably to late for that now as he should of put the foot down right away when they first arrived in Grand Forks.
If they were sat by their coach, who do you think would talk to the coach first, their dad or husband?
I don't think that marriage lasted a year. There is no husband. And they would never be sat. Follow Idalski on Twitter and you'll see how infatuated he is with the Lams.

Its funny how now that the team is not meeting these new expectations, that everyone suddenly knows Idalski. All these posts are speculation and hold no merit. Ask other coaches, see what camps he works every year. You dont and I don't know the Lams-Idalski relationship. Anyone in their right mind would say yes if they said they wanted to transfer to your team. They do take stupid penalties, and the coach IS the leader, but really.....
I imagine he will be gone in the distant future. Won't we all?Let's just see how he does without the twins next year and beyond. That is if he is still the coach. Rumblings are circulating he could be gone in the distant future. Take it for what its worth. Time will tell. Of course there have always been rumblings of Hak to be canned after every year they fail to win it all.
Some of us sooner than others.I imagine he will be gone in the distant future. Won't we all?

I know one thing. You double shift them as much as he does they are bound to take stupid penalties just for the fact that they are tired and try and take a shortcut. That is a fact. Happens all the time in the game of puck.Imagine the headline "Idalski rejects hometown Olympians" ........
