I heard a rumor that the ghost of Dollar Bill Wirtz is roaming the halls of the PEIF, helping guide some decisions for the athletic side of the University.
This doesn't make me happy.
Also heard that WNMU-TV refuses to air any games (even tape delayed).
While this discussion isn't directly related to the NMU hockey off-season, it kinda is related. With three channels available, WNMU-TV refuses to even entertain the thought of airing hockey (or sports of any kind) on their channels. One channel is the their programming channel (13.1) that airs the national feed, along with local programming. 13.2 is strictly an HD feed of the national PBS broadcast, and 13.3... that's an SD WEST COAST Feed of the PBS national broadcast.
Really disappointed that WNMU-TV is closed minded on this issue. The rebuttal for trying it is "well, what programming do we bump?" Surprisingly, they have a WHOLE channel they can pre-empt for this. Or even try it during fundraiser time. What's the worst that happens, the phones stay silent, like they already do for the rebroadcast of "John Tesh Live from the Red Rocks" for the 19th year in a row?
Also a beef I have is that WNMU-TV, which is available thanks to satellite and cable across the whole UP, refuses to look beyond just the MQT area. WNMU is in prime location to be the UP's WCHA broadcaster, partner with MTU and LSSU, have all three schools secure sponsorship across the whole UP, and get a weekly WCHA game from one of those schools broadcast per week!
If Bemidji can get their games on Minnesota Public Television, and the Wisconsin Badgers have been doing it for decades... it really frustrates me how closed minded WNMU-TV is.
