NMU 2009-2010 Season

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Looks like we wont be seeing Stewy in that skills comp anymore.

Depends. Adirondack has almost no shot at the playoffs, so give Stewart a game or two this weekend and cut him loose after next Wednesday's game:
Fri, Apr 2/10 7:30 pm EDT Syracuse at Adirondack
Sat, Apr 3/10 7:00 pm EDT Adirondack at Albany
Wed, Apr 7/10 7:00 pm EDT Binghamton at Adirondack
Fri, Apr 9/10 7:30 pm EDT Binghamton at Adirondack
Sat, Apr 10/10 7:00 pm EDT Albany at Adirondack

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Brian Stewart has signed with the Flyers organization. My best guess is that it's an Amateur Tryout Agreement with their AHL affiliate in Glens Falls, NY, the Adirondack Phantoms, where Erik Gustafsson will make his debut against Syracuse tonight. Stewie will team with for Tech G Michael Lee-Teslak.

Whatever you do, just don't run one of them over :D

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Gussy scores his first professional goal and adds an assist in a loss to the Albany RiverRats. He now has a goal and three assists in two games along with some great defensive work.

Stewie got his first professional start and made some huge saves. Gave up a goal on a penalty shot 27 seconds in. Then a power play goal against him and finally got beat on a breakaway. Overall he stood tall. Looked good in the NMU pads with the orange, red and white color scheme of the team. :-) Must not have had a lot of pads to fit his 6' 6" frame laying around.

Good night for our former Cat's

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Yet another recruit for the '10-'11 season according to Heisenberg.

Erik Higby, a 5'11" 170 lbs. forward from the Topeka Roadrunners of the NAHL. He'll be 21 in July. In 57 games, he had 27g and 53a for 80 pts. and was a +36. They list his hometown as New Braunfels, Texas.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Bump.

Completely off the subject but relevent to NMU athletics, men's head basketball coach Dean Ellis has resigned after 24 years at the helm.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

You guys will be getting a very productive player in Seckel, he's one of my best friends, and although he wont necessarily blow you away with his size or speed, the guy has excelled at every level he has been at...he put up good numbers in Topeka in the NAHL and then really upped his game after stepping into the much tougher USHL level, in two seasons he has been a two time all star, won both the MVP and Top Forward awards on the Green Bay last year and has led the Gamblers to the Anderson Cup for the best record in the league two years in a row, a good playmaker and two way forward and will be an excellent representative of your school.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like he will be a good representative of NMU's often quoted motto, "Hardest Working Team in College Hockey"!!! Give me 26 Reed Seckel's and I'd be a happy man...:D

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Stewie gets first pro win 3-2 in OT vs Binghamton Senators. 31 saves. Team was outshot 20-3 at one point. (although that is nothing new for Stewie) :-)

Gussy records his 5th point in 3 games with an apple.

Call dem Cat's up Philly!!!

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Looking ahead to next season, what do we have for games? As far as I can figure out...

vs. Tech, vs. UMD (Superior Showdown)

Home Dates:

vs. Tech (nc)
Ohio State
Michigan
Notre Dame
Bowling Green
Ferris
*LSSU*

Away Dates

Beminji State (nc)
Michigan State
Miami
Alaska
Western
*LSSU*
Tech
If anyone knows of other games or dates for these series feel free to add. Also, how will scheduling work without Omaha?

Add LSSU home and away and a single road game at Tech. The Superior series will be at home this year as well.

Yeah I just realized I left LSSU out of those series.

Ken, Walt, anyone with pull that reads this...How about a series against Maine :D

Haha. Scheduling of NC opponents is done years in advance. If anything was worked out with Maine, it wouldn't be till 12-13 or even 13-14 seasons.

Make it happen ;) Id like to play more Eastern schools, which I know is a logistical nightmare for a small school like NMU to pay their way out there.

Congrats to Walt's B.C. Eagles last night as well ;)
