NMU 2009-2010 Season

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Listening to Walt on the radio last night, he gave the impression he wasn't expecting Olver or Gustaffsson to return next year. Thanks to the NHL's CBA.

NNNNOOOOOO, We want a final 4 appearance next year!!!!!!

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Olver and Gussy are leaving and Ray has signed with somebody. I found a leak.

Congrats to them...it was a real pleasure watching them play here for the last three years. Hopefully they can move on and have great pro careers in the AHL/NHL

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Olver to Lake Erie/Colorado. Gus to Adirondack/Philadelphia. That leaves Ray.

Mark Olver has signed with the Colorado Avalanche and will report to their AHL team, the Lake Erie Monsters in Cleveland, Ohio. Erik Gustafsson has signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and will report to their AHL team in Glens Falls, NY, the Adirondack Phantoms. No official word on Ray Kaunisto yet.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Walt had to see this coming and it makes since why this incoming class is so big. Sure does make NMU young on defense.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Congrats to both Olly and Gussy. They are both very deserving and have left their marks on NMU's Hockey Program. While they are going to be hard to replace I believe Walt and Company have put together a great group with depth. I'm sure we'll see some late signings that hinged on whether Olly and Gussy stayed.

NMU always seems to have players who step up when called upon. I now think that this team is left in the capable hands of Florek, Hanson and Chewy. Not a bad trio if you ask me!!! :D

What we have coming in, is one of the best recruiting classes in recent memory.

Ryan Daugherty is ranked 68th among North American Skaters.

Reed Seckel who plays for the Gamblers has 23 goals and 33 assists this season.

Sam Muchalla a BCHL product has 29 goals and 57 assists this season.

Jared Coreau (G-Lincoln) comes in as the 15th overall goaltender in the NHL Draft Scouting.

Also coming in are Defenseman C.J. Ludwig, the son of Craig Ludwig (NHL), and a name fimilar to many older NMU fans, Stephan Vigier.

Florek is also ranked 135 and could be drafted this season.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

A word of caution. Juniors stats != CCHA success.

But I do like what this incoming class has done.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

From a SCSU Husky fan, what a great game last Friday night. To bad one team had to lose. I was there and sitting almost across from the NMU bench, and the crowd not so big I could hear Coach Kyle from where I was sitting and he almost willed his team to a w. Sorry to hear about Olver and and the other one leaving. That kid has great talent wish for your sakes he would stay and be part of one of the most exciting college sports that to many don't know about. Congrats on a great season and good lick next year.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

NMU is a school that rarely gets hit with NHL defections...What are your expectations (I know you are one of the most optimistic fan bases) for next year in the CCHA given the losses of

Key players: Olver, Gustafson, Stewart, Kaunisto
Others Graduating: TJ Miller, Butcher, Dorich, Smith

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Good luck to olver, gustafsson, and kaunisto
NMU will still be as good though if not better with all the talent they have coming in. Personally i think every player leaving senior or jr is a huge loss because they are a great TEAM and all those players were key players in different ways.
