NMU 2009-2010 Season

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Thanks a lot guys. NMU's failure to beat "One And Done" University has knocked them off the pedestal of having the most NCAA tournament games without a win... and now WMU has that distinction (5 games).

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

I'm just going to say, congrats on being the best hockey team in the UP this season (even if your record against Tech doesn't show it ;)). SCSU was going to get over the hump sooner or later, and while I may not be shedding any tears that it came at the Wildcats' expense, at least you were there and had a decent showing.

See you b@stards in October. :D

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Proud to be a Cat. Hopefully, please Junior class stay for your senior year!!!!!!!:) Next year would even better eh. See you all next year !!!:D

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

We got over our hump of the semi-final game, it's only fitting that SCSU should get over theirs as well. Sad, though.

Let's keep building on this. Hopefully this year was the long awaited turn around for NMU hockey! I for one am excited to see what 2010-2011 brings!

Drop the puck already.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Any word on the big 3 possibly departing this year for the pros (Olver, Gustaffson, and Hanson)? Next year would be awesome if they stayed.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

From everything I've heard, the Juniors are staying. Gustafsson was courted last year at the Joe, but I believe he has some unfinished business to take care of in the NCAA before going pro.

Thank you Cats. There are alumni all over who are proud that you took this team to the Championship game and an NCAA bid. You all have been there now, next season will be better.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

If we were going to lose a game in the NCAAs, in my opinion, that is the kind of game to lose. I was actually shaking at the end of the first OT. What a great game and a great end to the season, even if it was a loss.

I hope we can continue the momentum into next season and start strong and stay that way. Go 'Cats!

I think by that point I had my head buried under pillows in Flashy Man's room. Shaking for me started as soon as we got it to 3-2.

Yeah, I get a little wound up during games.

Completely agree, though.

Great season cats return to the frozen four next year 20 years after the first in the same location

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Cats have been to three FF's, 80 (2nd), 81 (3rd) and 91 (1st)

Actually, they finished 4th in '81. They lost to MTU in the consolation game. (They had third place games back then.)

NMU and MTU in the same Frozen Four. That probably won't happen again.

Listening to Walt on the radio last night, he gave the impression he wasn't expecting Olver or Gustaffsson to return next year. Thanks to the NHL's CBA.

That doesn't works for me! Any news on the seniors signing with anyone? Looking over the recruits for next year, Vigier, Muchalla, Daugherty should be able to come right in and contribute offensively.

Boo.

I was under the impression the new CBA (of which Olver was drafted under) was a little more favorable for kids to stay in college. The old CBA (of which Santorelli was drafted under) was a little more generous, and thus contributed to why he bailed early.

Although, being able to plan a solid team without those guys, and to have them remain in the lineup would definitely be amazing. :D

As for the seniors, I know that the Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, and Chicago Blackhawks* all were at the Joe heavily interested in Ray Ray and a couple underclassmen.

* Ran into Assistant GM Kevin Cheveldayoff, whom I had met with his time at the Wolves, and got into a little discussion about who he was scouting.
