NMU 2009-2010 Season

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

December 17, 2010 - Away - Michigan Tech nc
December 18, 2010 - Home - Michigan Tech nc

What was your source on the Tech/MTU home and home games? Those games are still in the scheduling process according to my source.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

I posed this question in the schedules thread, but how does that work? a 28 game slate still, which I guess could work if you rearrange the clusters and say have LSSU only play 1 of the teams you're clustered with, and start a new pair with someone else, but where did you get the info there?

BG and ND also are slated to be in the Miami/OSU cluster this year, if they still even go by those. If they do keep that up, you guys should get Western/Ferris this season.

The way it is, is that you will play four opponents four times each for a total of 16 games, and six opponents twice to make up the other 12. The Big Ten teams (UM, MSU & OSU) will play each other four times each season.

That sort of makes it easy to calculate it out. For non-Big 10 schools:

[Your team's travel partner] x 4

[Three team cluster] x 4

[Three team cluster] x 2

[Big 10] x 2

NMU:
LSSU x 4
BGSU+WMU+ND x 4
MIA+UA_+FSU x 2
UM+MSU+tOSU x 2

LSSU should theoretically have the same schedule then.

Who are the travel partners? I think the clusters are broken into:

NMU, BGSU, WMU, ND

LSSU, MIA, UA_, FSU

UM, MSU, tOSU

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

So are they gonna switch up some of the travel partners then? If they really do try this Big 10 thing and seperate them from the rest of the league, which this guy isn't a fan of, then Miami loses OhSU, which had risen to a pretty good hate filled series every year. It wouldn't make much sense then to put Miami and UAF together, probably Miami and BG though (MAC schools, short drive up 75)...

Heck, one would think that 3 Big Ten schools would want to be in a group of four with Alaska, so they can all get that extra series.

There are no "clusters" per se. According to Commissioner Anastos and Assistant Fred Pletsch, the opponents will rotate. It will take 8 years for each team to play each of the others in equal numbers of home events and games.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Hey guys, new to the forum, so not sure if this is appropriate to post here, so feel free to let me know if it's not kosher. I am looking for an NMU Wildcat game jersey from the early to mid 2000's. Either the green one with the Wildcat head on the front and #1 on the back or the white one or green one with the WILDCATS angled across the front (the retro looking ones). I know Joey Tuset wore them and so did Josh Hatinger. Does anybody out there know where I could locate one of these and make an offer to the current owner(s)? Thanks for any info and again, if this is not appropriate, feel free to let me know and we can delete my post.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

That schedule sucks. Two back to back weekends on the road, and non back to back weekends at home

Wish we could add another NC series instead of that bye week.

Is the US-18 team too good to come here anymore?:D

From an athletic department standpoint, it's actually probably desirable to not have back-to-back home weekends. At least for football, it typically results in a better average draw because it creates more anticipation and then means no one has to try and buy two series' worth of tickets out of one paycheck.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

From an attendance standpoint, no back to back home series is a good thing. It means non season ticket holders don't have to pay for two series out of one paycheck. All things considered, this is about as good a schedule as I've seen for NMU.

Is there an echo in here? :p

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

NMU will be playing Nip****ing University (North Bay Ontario) as their Canadian warm up.

The Nip****ing Lakers went 14-18 last season and were bounced in the first round playoff series against McGill (Montreal).

They support the team colors of Green and Blue.

Also an interesting note, they play HOST to Lake State for two games in the middle of the season.

Chad McQuaid plays for the Lakers. His older brother is in the NHL with the Boston Bruins.

You can't use their school site directly, either--you have to use another source. Yager (one of the techies) provided a board approved substitute to their wikipedia page, however.

Not very surprising, but a big blow to next years team if this were to happen.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Oh and mark your calandars, NMU travels to Tech on Oct 12th, another Thursday. We play the other part of the home/home series at the Berry on Dev 17th, a Friday. Apparently you guys really like having your biggest rival playing you when no one is around.

So, we play Oct 9/10th (one of the two) for the Superior Showdown...then Oct 12th (which is a Tuesday).
