Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

I must have missed her outrage when Senator Vitter, Congressman Hyde and other notable politicians admitted to having extramarital affairs.
Pay a lot of attention to Ann?

Me personally? No. That's why I must have missed it. I'm sure someone will be along any minute with a link to her addressing those topics.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

How about anyone calling out the Kennedy clan?

You're injecting politics into a discussion of whether we've become so callous or whatever that adultery is no longer a problem. When I married by wife 30+ years, I made a whole list of promises to her before God including forsaking all others. I could no more cheat on her than I could whip out an rifle and blast away at the local mall's food court. Yet it appears that if John or Mary is having an affair nobody cares (it's their problem).

Well maybe it is their problem, but adulterer is a liar and a cheat. Could I trust them to keep to the terms of a contract? Heck, they broke one promise, why not another?

Call me old fashioned, but...

You call me out for injecting politics into the discussion. Who linked to a column by Ann Coulter? Yes, I noticed that Ann would have us believe that him having a mistress is a far worse offense than saying the things he said. Yet when other people exhibited the same behavior I don't think he expressed any outrage. Maybe as someone who pays attention to the man you can enlighten me.

In a country where half the marriages end in divorce is it really any wonder that people don't give a crap about a rich old guy having a mistress? He freaking bragged about it in open court a few years ago. Was anyone outraged then? Let me answer that for you: No.

There have been adulterers for as long as there has been marriage, and I guarantee you've done business with them several times over during the years. 'Old fashioned' doesn't do such ignorance justice.

Sorry, Joe, but Mary Jo Kopechne is not available for comment. :(

I remember back in 2001, when Bush had just taken office, he took to calling Ted Kennedy "Ol' Chappy," and did it to his face. One half of me was grinning and laughing about it, the other half was irritated that the president would do something so base with his colleagues.

and then Bush and Teddy teamed up to pass No Child Left Behind Act in 2001.

The United States House of Representatives passed the bill on May 23, 2001 (voting 384–45), and the United States Senate passed it on June 14, 2001 (voting 91–8).

In retrospect, it is kind of amazing at some of the "unconventional" things Bush did that slid under the radar: bi-partisan bill with the "liberal lion." or receiving tributes from Bono and Elton John about his AIDs initiatives. Both of them speak quite highly of GWB.

Bush was about as "Republican" as JFK was. (first domestic priority for each was a big tax cut to stimulate the economy, both embarked on 'regime change', both wanted strong anti-missile defenses against USSR / Russia, etc.).

A business catering to its customers is just bad business. Heads will surely roll for this!

There's a difference between giving offerings to your customers and blanket removing things because you have certain customers.

You do realize this is not that uncommon in the US don't you? There are many neighborhood sub shops and deli's that will not serve meat from any animal that does not chew its cud and have split hooves due to "strong demand" of certain customers.

Don't confuse him with the facts. Subway are part of the fascist agenda. :D
