Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

You do realize this is not that uncommon in the US don't you? There are many neighborhood sub shops and deli's that will not serve meat from any animal that does not chew its cud and have split hooves due to "strong demand" of certain customers.

Also known as neighborhoods to avoid.

I realize that these twits don't represent all or even a lot of Boston fans, but really?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/p-k-subban-targeted-by-thousands-of-racist-tweets-after-habs-win-1.2629759

Boston would not be high on my list of places where I'd expect this, although not sure any NHL city would be.

I realize it's a heated rivalry, but these tweeters (?) got the N word trending in Boston. That's not one or two people causing this.

It doesn't help when one moron tweets it and 15 people retweet it to chastise him. Just ignore it and they'll shut up. Thankfully no one I was following tweeted (or retweeted) any of those things last night.

I'm wondering if the fans in person will give him an ovation before game 2. Kinda like they did with the Canadian anthem after ours was booed up there.

Wouldn't surprise me and would put the haters in their place.

Would be VERY cool if they did.

Ohhh...I thought the reason you posted it was because of the "Islams"

You really are obsessed with the separation of people into categories, aren't you...

I hate to disappoint you, but this truly was all about the bacon.

Which would still be a grossly exaggerated statement, since it is only being removed from Subways that are in predominately Islamic neighborhoods.

Once we again we have proof that universities are bastions of free speech and the exchange of ideas, just as long as they conform to the speech and ideas of the libtard faculty and students.

Dr. Rice showed her class, her colleagues at Rutgers did not

I don't think that's an example of chilled speech unless she was scheduled to speak on a topic the Sensitive Ones were all riled up about. 50 students in a sit-in? Tepid. I think the war was pure idiocy, but I can see her reasons for declining. She's an intelligent woman, though, and she would not have had to say a word about the war or her work as Sec'y and still make a comment or two to put the protest in perspective in a way that did not detract from the experience for the vast majority of grads and their families. She should have gone, IMO.

I respect your opinion that the war was idiocy, although I may not agree. I'm sure the Sensitive Ones and their faculty enablers agree wholeheartedly, which leads me to ask what many pundits on the right are asking:

If it was Hillary or Kerry that were to speak at commencement, would they be as vehemently opposed, since they actually voted for the war.

Perhaps a better question is whether they would speak if they were scheduled to speak at Rutgers or any other university and there were similar objections and protests against their policies. I don't know. Just seems like Rice missed an opportunity there. I've been to a number of commencements and graduations for my kids in recent years, and I don't think most students or their parents view them as just a hug-fest anymore.

Free speech is not about being paid an appearance fee after being privately chosen to attend a ceremony. In fact free speech was at play here when the students protested her selection. I may not agree with their opposition to her attending, but once again the FOX crowd can't see the forest for the trees and manufactures their need for umbrage.

Hillary spoke at RPI my freshman year.

Holder bails on speech to OKC police academy graduating class, citing "scheduling Issue.
Attorney General Eric Holder canceled a speech to a graduating class of police cadets in Oklahoma City on Thursday, after crowds of Oklahomans flocked to the ceremony to protest his appearance.

Protest organizers said Holder's planned speech to the law enforcement graduates was "inappropriate," and argued that the attorney general has failed to uphold the law himself.
