NHL 2024: SLC Puck

I have never seen a league so excited about getting its elite talent out of the game like the NHL.

Oh, you want to hit their star player in the head? Just hit his shoulder a little and its perfectly fine!

Also, for the old hockey men who complain about the game being reviewed to death - they sure do want to excessively legislate every hit.

Because they want the violence and the injuries. No one watches hockey for the scoring! (/s)

In all seriousness, the league is still run by idiots with antiquated views.

Moment in the Seattle-Anaheim game tonight that perfectly encapsulates the problems with the NHL today: Tye Kartye of Seattle is knocked down to the ice and then Anaheim's Ross Johnston comes in and repeatedly punches Kartye in the head while Kartye is on the ice. Penalty given? Four minutes (an extra two for roughing) and a ten minute misconduct, for something that, at a minimum, should be a five minute major, a game misconduct, and a 3 game suspension.

Team subreddits have become my new guilty pleasure. The endless positivity and cope meeting brutal honesty in the Kraken subreddit makes some losses easier.

”The Kraken can’t lose back to back games against these bottom division teams like the Ducks and Sharks.”

”Uh, the Kraken are one of those bottom division teams too ya know.”

”Why can’t the Kraken score on the power play?”

”Because they can’t pass the puck effectively.”

You've found the only reddit sub that isn't dominated by doomers and catastrophists. Congratulations!
The Kraken subreddit has some positivity because they’re still new (kinda) and they’re not terrible, just frustratingly mid.

It’s frustrating with the Kraken because so much off the ice is so good, the jerseys, the branding, the arena, the broadcast, the marketing etc. But the on ice product is just… ugh.

I remember my (brief) time on the Mariners sub. I was sick of the adolescent attention span and unchecked emotiveness of the Mets sub (they all suck! trade all our prospects! i paid for my ticket i have the right to boo our players!) and I thought well if there's one fanbase...

Nope. If anything, they were worse. Instantly reactive, utterly without any sense of proportion, and any time anybody struck out it was DFA them! I've seen sh-tty reddit behavior (I have posted on political sites) but I have never seen worse people than on the Mariners sub. Just bizarre; like they're all from Boston or something.

So the PWHL season has started. They're still doing the "jailbreak" rule where if you score shorthanded the player comes out of the box. Now they have a sponsor for the jailbreak goals.

Four nations rosters submitted today, announced Wednesday.

rumor is that bedard being left off and Tom Wilson on roster to counter the tkachuks. Chicago fans gonna be in shambles that Jesus Christ superstar is left off roster.

Sounds like Jonas Brodin made team Sweden, even after every single pundit didn’t have him on there.

speaking of amazing skaters, David Jiricek had his first practice today since being traded to league first place Wild. Sounds like skating is his biggest issue. Wild have one of, if not the best skating coaches anywhere so if Andy can’t fix him, no one can

Chicago fans are too busy calling for the front office and coaching staff to be lined up along Madison Avenue and driven over by a road roller.

Hall was a healthy scratch, Bedard is getting shuffled around and hasn't had the same linemates in weeks, and they're the worst team in the league.

Lol Canada is going to go the same route the US did in 2016.
