NHL 2024: SLC Puck

Bummer for Edmonton - I didn’t really have a dog in the fight but definitely found myself cheering for the Oilers. would have been happy for the Canadien fans - plus the Panthers are one of the more unlikeable teams in the NHL. Oh well.

Utah seems like an odd choice for the NHL… since I don’t want to bother to look it up - are they playing where the Jazz play? Or some arena leftover from the Olympics or something?

meanwhile the Bruins got fleeced in the Ullmark deal. Ugh.

Yeah they are starting where the Jazz play, but building a new arena in SLC for the hockey team.

If you want to feel better go look at the Walman deal the Wings just did. Salary dump plus gave up a second round pick when you have 4 worse defensemen on more egregious contracts.
Edit: I was kind of hoping that Bussi would get a chance in Boston this season with Ullmark getting moved, too.

Wow, Guerin redeems himself after last years disaster of a first round.

I was worried Wild would draft eiserman. Buium was not someone I thought we could get. What an elite blue line they’re building

flyers seem like they’re not wanting to draft any more college guys after the gauthier situation (and now looks like mcgroarty is doing the same thing)

Sigh. OK, tell me. I can take it.

He may very well be awesome for the isles - and I hope he is. A lot of the pre draft analyses had eiserman as one of the likely wild picks

the scouting reports all seem to note a doubt he can be unselfish enough. And he’s already reneged on one Minnesota team- so I feel like it ups the chances he’ll be another one of those college players who pouts and refuses to sign with the team that drafted him. Buium to me was far and away best American in this draft and eisermans stock certainly dropped this year- I’ve heard he just didn’t develop this year as much as some thought he would.

For what it’s worth, I think gauthier behaved like a child but I think mcgroarty has legitimate reasons to be suspicious of his path to nhl in Winnipeg

Wings sign Kane to another year. 4.5 base with up to two mil in bonuses.

There is apparently a deal finalized to get Trouba to Detroit, but he has an NTC and doesn’t want to leave as his wife has another year of residency. But one reporter says if he doesn’t agree to the trade they’ll just dump him on waivers.

I love the Knights, but trading their goalie while he's at a public team function is pretty sh*tty. They're gonna have karma bite them for that.

They have been doing things like that since they came into the NHL. Must be nice having a franchise in a location the players will overlook being treated like chit.

I kept reading Kane did not want to do another one year deal. He wanted at least at two-year deal with somebody.

Trouba's NTC is not all inclusive. He can only list 15 teams he can't be traded to. In fact, the Rangers asked him for that list by July 1. However, like you said, the Rangers are prepared to dump him on waivers, and then he has no choice.

NHL dropped this little nugget today during free agency frenzy:

“ former Chicago executives Stan Bowman, Joel Quenneville and Al MacIsaac have been reinstated and are now eligible to seek employment in the league again.”
