They basically talk about the Leafs all the time on all national sports media. And the vast majority of nationally televised games are Leafs games.

When I lived in Tacoma and watched HNIC on cable even I began to hate the Leafs because they were always on.

Is it really Canada's team? Did the Habs alienate everybody with Froggery?

They’re not Canada’s team, there’s just a f-ton of people in Ontario.

The Habs have a decent amount of Anglophone fans, especially in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, but yeah the French part kinda limits their popularity.

The Senators have a decent fanbase around Ottawa. The rest of the teams are popular in their provinces but not really anywhere else.

Good God, I looked. If Canada's system was identical to the US, Ontario would have 135 Members of the House of Representatives (CA has 52).

And 2 Senators.
Yeah, Ontario has 121 out of 338 seats in the House of Commons.

So wasn't the big concern for the Oilers D and goalie? Appears to be a problem- should be able to win a playoff game if you score 4.

And it was interesting to see the difference between New York and Carolina with Devil's play. Go from utterly dominant to utterly contained.

Laughing at an r/hockey discussion about how ESPN bought the NHL rights to intentionally drive down ratings to boost NBA playoff ratings and that’s why their coverage is so bad.

Or, you know, it’s because ESPN actually sucks at covering almost everything.

Not sure why people think it's so bad- you don't have to listen to the people all that much. To have it on so often is pretty darned nice. And the NHL and the NBA share who is covering them- and ESPN does need to relearn how to do it, since most of NBC's people just moved to Turner.

Compared to hoping to find NBCSN, ESPN has had two channels in hotels and cruise ships for a long time. Which is way better for the NHL, in spite of the change in ratings.

So Bennett body slams knies and ensures his head hits ice. Knies is out for the game. No penalty.
Original hit seemed clean, but the wwe takedown and slamming of the head is bush league

So can Toronto come back from down the first two? If they came out ready to play at the start of the 2nd, that game would have been very different. But it was a team effort to give Florida the lead.
