NFL Offseason: The Saints won the Superbowl, and are now Marchin on to the NFL Draft.

Re: NFL Offseason: The Saints won the Superbowl, and are now Marchin on to the NFL Draft.

Somebody had to go out of Philly. If it was Kolb then you have an aging starter and no groomed replacement. Not enough interest in Vick but you might get some value later if people start getting hurt around the league. If they bring in a veteran as the new third guy then I suspect Vick will be gone as soon as they get the right offer.

McNabb wouldn't be worth any more next year so they got what they could...he wouldn't have agreed to go to Oakland or Buffalo. With a salary cap and an aging defense they need money to rebuild several positions and Kolb will make a fraction of McNabb...the gambit is that he'll be a little worse but at a fraction of the price, if that savings is put into other players then I guess they think overall they can succeed...the new GM is either gonna turn out to be a genius or fired in 2 years.

All in all I think this looks more like BB and Pioli type work; Reid made McNabb (with his patented method of throwing every third pass at your feet or 4 feet over your head) look pretty good...why can't he do the same thing with Kolb?...they must think he'll be 80% as good for 10% of the salary. With those receivers, TE and RB...they need money for linemen and a defense.

The Eagles have been pretty consistent and won with Garcia or McNabb, I think Reid gets the benefit of the doubt.

Even with McNabb the Skins won't be that good...by the time they rebuild the rest of the team McNabb will be on the edge of retirement.

Santonio Holmes to the Jets, per ESPN.

Holmes will be suspended for the first 4 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Still worth it Jets fans?

For a 5th round pick? Yes, that's a ton of value.

Great guy to add to the team. When is Mo Clarett out of jail? Then a trade for Stallworth and they can have an offense that has been accused of many offenses.

Shocked about the Holmes trade. My old man (he's a Jets fan) loved the trade. Jets are quietly assembling a good group of receivers.

BTW, I am watching the Bottom Line on ESPN and it says Doctor who examined accuser...

Which one was it Smith? Tennant? Baker? Davison? Or was it someone else? :D :D (Yes, I have that kind of time on my hands today.)

Brandon Marshall goes to Miami. Good trade for the Fish.

BTW, are my Buffalo Bills going to do anything or does no one want to play for them? Is it really THAT BAD?

I like that they leak the announcement of the announcement of the schedule. And the media laps it up.

The NFL knows that they're wearing the daddy pants amongst all the leagues.

The NFL has the other leagues down and Goodell is stepping on their throats.

So, what to do with Ben?

We all have our perspectives, if I were the commish I'd suspend him for several games. I'd tell him that I don't care what the authorities say, I 'know' what he did and for his own good and the good of the league I'm sitting him for a minimum of 3 games. I'd also tell him that one more incident like this and he is out for at least a season. He could be the victim of unfortunate circumstances, he could have a real problem, I'd tell him that he was required to see a league appointed psychologist to help determine that.

Before doing that I would talk to the Rooney's. I would ask them to take the steps vs. me having to do it...I suspect they would agree to much of it.

You'd have the players union kicking Goodell in the teeth if Goodell did that. And I'd agree with them.

Big stupid is an idiot. As a stillers fan I am embarrassed (and that is a high bar to reach). Sit him... Long and hard. *******

Re: NFL Offseason: The Saints won the Superbowl, and are now Marchin on to the NFL Dr

I'm going to have to agree with Brent. He wasn't found guilty , therefore the league really shouldn't step in and punish him. The Steelers on the other hand should feel free to do whatever they see fit as he is representing their club.

That said, with players the do end up getting charged, the NFL needs to take a harder line and stop this "he paid his debt to the law" crap. You're not beholden to just what the legal system doles out, you're allowed to punish how you see fit, so if a players, say, manages to execution of a bunch of animals for kicks, you can ban or punish him beyond just having him serve his jail term. Same with the rash of DUIs. You're making millions of dollars a year, hire a ****ing driver, if players can't enjoy their millions of dollars without doing stupid crap like this time for them to stop enjoying it.

Re: NFL Offseason: The Saints won the Superbowl, and are now Marchin on to the NFL Dr

I think the Steelers will do something and NFL will have their hands clean of this whole punishment thing.

I think the Marshall move is being forgotten, and the Bills are just an afterthought like they have been for the last decade. Can we please make a move?

Personal conduct policy. Exactly how many things did Pacman actually get convicted of?

It's all about image. Ben has a bad one.

How many times did Pacman get arrested? How many times did Ben?

So, if the NFL punishes Ben, this means that anytime in the future, if someone accuses a player of something bad, the police look into it, don't arrest anyone, and end up saying there's nothing there, the NFL can punish them for having a bad image?

No way.

I don't know if the police exactly said there was nothing there. The woman didn't want to press charges, which brings the same result I suppose, but the DA seemed to be to be rather convinced that a crime had occurred.
