Somebody had to go out of Philly. If it was Kolb then you have an aging starter and no groomed replacement. Not enough interest in Vick but you might get some value later if people start getting hurt around the league. If they bring in a veteran as the new third guy then I suspect Vick will be gone as soon as they get the right offer.
McNabb wouldn't be worth any more next year so they got what they could...he wouldn't have agreed to go to Oakland or Buffalo. With a salary cap and an aging defense they need money to rebuild several positions and Kolb will make a fraction of McNabb...the gambit is that he'll be a little worse but at a fraction of the price, if that savings is put into other players then I guess they think overall they can succeed...the new GM is either gonna turn out to be a genius or fired in 2 years.
All in all I think this looks more like BB and Pioli type work; Reid made McNabb (with his patented method of throwing every third pass at your feet or 4 feet over your head) look pretty good...why can't he do the same thing with Kolb?...they must think he'll be 80% as good for 10% of the salary. With those receivers, TE and RB...they need money for linemen and a defense.
The Eagles have been pretty consistent and won with Garcia or McNabb, I think Reid gets the benefit of the doubt.
Even with McNabb the Skins won't be that good...by the time they rebuild the rest of the team McNabb will be on the edge of retirement.
