The Arizona Cardinals come in at #26 on this list. The Cardinals' franchise had moderate success early in its history, but has largely struggled, sporting only 8 division championships in nearly 100 seasons, losing nearly 100 more games than any other franchise, and having the second worst winning percentage in league history. The Cardinals won two NFL titles while playing in Chicago before moving to St. Louis following the 1959 season. Big Red struggled though in the Gateway to the West, advancing to the postseason only 3 times in 28 seasons and never winning a playoff game. Indeed, after Jimmy Conzelman led the Cards to the NFL Championship in 1947, the Cardinals would go over fifty years without winning a playoff game. Since landing in Arizona in 1988, the Cardinals have made 5 playoff appearances, advancing to the NFC Conference Championship game twice, and nearly winning their lone Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XLIII. While Arizona struggled last season, the Cardinals will look to get back to their winning ways from the previous three seasons when they went a combined 34-14. If they can, and win some hardware along the way, Arizona will look to fly out of the bottom quarter of these rankings.

Puhleeze, when it comes to being annoying, Peyton Manning tops Brett Favre as the most overhyped and overexposed athlete in recent memory. I'm not even sure Brady does commercials. On the flip side, is there a product Manning hasn't endorsed?

Also, for you hayseeds upset at NO beating the Colts, where would you rather spend time - New Orleans or Indianapolis? To paraphrase Mark Twain, if my rich uncle died and left me hell and Indiana, I'd move to hell and rent out Indiana (Twain actually said this about Texas).

They kind of are. Or at least were.

The Bills have taken the reins on that. But instead of being a cheeky and fun drunk, they are the one you try to avoid because they're loud, obnoxious, and they tend to bring a lot of unsavory characters with them.

There's a reason Deadspin has an entire series of columns on their horrible fans.

The Bills fans definitely are but I was talking ownershipwise. Al Davis was the constant thorn in Rozelle's side and frankly the NFL was better for it.

The Raiders were loathsome because they were criminals. They were overtaken by the Cowboys who became The Punchable Face of the mewling, whining bandwagon bat droppings team. They have long since passed that title to the Pats.

The difference is Oakland and Dallas belong in a top 8 alltime NFL list. The Pats could win another 100 Super Bowls and they'd never belong. They are the New Jersey brickface of franchises. Yapping new money with an inferiority complex, like the people who root for them.

The Oakland Raiders of my youth were THE fun team to watch. They never hesitated to throw the bomb, and their defense was built around intimidation 101. If they took a 15 yard penalty for unnecessary roughness, it was looked upon as the cost of doing business.

One of my brothers loves New Orleans so much he goes down there almost annually. I've never been there, so can't comment. My brother is a sever lush, though, so I think that has something to do with it.

The New Orleans Saints come in at #25 on this list. The Saints joined the NFL in 1967, but failed to have any sort of success until the late 1980s, making their first playoff appearance in the strike-shortened 1987 season. The Dome Patrol would make 4 playoff appearances in 6 seasons between 1987-1992, including their first division title in 1991, but it wouldn't be until 2000 before New Orleans would win their first playoff game. Indeed, for most of their history, Saints fans affectionately called their squad the "Aints" due to their seemingly annual quest at misery. However, New Orleans' fortunes would change after Hurricane Katrina decimated the Gulf Coast in 2005 and forced the Saints to play zero home games. Drew Brees joined the squad in 2006, and the Black and Gold advanced to their first NFC Conference Championship game in 2006, won their lone Super Bowl in 2009, won 10+ games and advanced to the postseason 5 times, and won 3 of the franchise's 5 division titles between 2006-2013. The Saints have struggled of late, going 7-9 in each of its past three seasons. However, if Drew Brees can recreate the magic from the 2006-2013 seasons and lead New Orleans to more hardware, they could climb out of the bottom fourth of these rankings.

New Orleans is not something you "see." It's definitely an immersion city. It either soaks into you or you feel like you've stepped in something.

Now, as a very well scrubbed white boy, it's not for me. But I'm under no illusions -- that says far more about me than the city. It's one of only a very few places in the US with actual soul. I can't participate in it, but that's my misfortune. I'd much rather New Orleans survive than the places I am comfortable in.

Now, as a very well scrubbed white boy, it's not for me. But I'm under no illusions -- that says far more about me than the city. It's one of only a very few places in the US with actual soul. I can't participate in it, but that's my misfortune. I'd much rather New Orleans survive than the places I am comfortable in.

My youngest daughter chose to go to Tulane and has stayed two years after graduation. She's a stereotypical blonde, midwestern girl who isn't a huge jazz fan, dislikes extreme heat and humidity, and can't yet afford Galatoires. But the place is growing on her. It's a small town, for one thing, and I think she likes that so many people love music and eating together. It's also very cool that more than a few people there believe God could be an old black clarinet player.
