New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Saw Harry Potter this weekend. I'm usually pretty disappointed in the movies, but I really couldn't find much fault with this one until they got to the final scenes. Not sure why they had to change the final battle between Harry and Voldemort. I'm particularly aggrieved that they messed with the scene with Neville killing Nagini. The 19 years later bit felt a bit flat as well. Oh well.

Black Swan: Wow. Aranofsky is one of the few directors that would dare release a film like that.

Look at his past movies. Shouldn't be a surprise. ;)

I haven't seen The Fountain, but loved the rest of his movies, including Black Swan.

Watched 13 Assassins and The Book Of Eli today. 13 Assassins is ok. I didn't know it was a remake, but after finding that out (after watching the movie) it does carry that older style of storytelling of other Japanese movies I've seen (the original was made in 1963, IIRC). Rather long buildup (about an 75 minutes worth in this case) to the finale (a 45-minute or so massive fight scene). Worth watching, but I thought the fight scene ran rather long. There's some other stuff that they cut I wish they would have left in instead, if they were concerned about the length of the movie.

Book Of Eli was meh. Oldman's character was too over the top/cheesy for what I thought the tone of the movie was, and I think Oldman is awesome. I think if he were more subdued, it would have made the movie much better. Denzel is great as always, and Mila Kunis (bless her soul) tries, but still can't pull off a serious role. I give her kudos for taking darker roles (this and the previously mentioned Black Swan) to break out of her typecast, but I just don't see it in her. Hopefully as she gets older, that might change.

Getting a little pumped.

The first two are must-sees. The last one is meh.

I just got Pirate Radio from Netflix and watched it last night. It was decent. The soundtrack was pretty f-ing amazing. One thing I did find interesting at the end of the movie it says on the screen "as for rock n roll, we've had a pretty good 40 years" or something to that affect and then it shows a bunch of album covers. If you slow it down, you see they have a black eyed peas album and an Amy Whinehouse album....are those really rock n roll?

I'll be more pumped when I start seeing the first pictures of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle :)

True true. I just always liked Bane, and the Bane story arcs. I like the very end of the teaser, where Batman looks completely exhausted and frightened with his backing up, and Bane is just lumbering right at him.

Yeah, mind you that I've never read the book, but I thought that they could have done a little more at the end there to wrap things up a little more tidy.

Personally, for the fat kid who wasn't really expected to do much, Neville there turned out to be a decent baddass.

I'm hoping he breaks the bat.

I imagine it'll be a lot like Bane's introduction in that he's wearing out Batman with others and only after he's got him physically and mentally weak does he show up to finish the job.

If not, then there needs to be a bat creditcard reference.

I'd say Winehouse is. Kinda throwback with modern twist. BEP is not rock. It's dance/pop/rap.

That kind of movie is easy to have a great soundtrack to. I guess it had so much potential with the story, and pretty much mailed it in. Passable, but not noteworthy.

It won't have an impact on my Netflix watching, I don't watch streaming, since I don't have internet at home. I'll just go to the DVD only plan.
just let me know when you do...then I don't have streaming access anymore ;)

As soon as the new billing goes into effect is when it will happen. Sorry, its not worth it for me to pay for streaming when I don't have internet.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

And suddenly the price hikes make a little more sense to us all...

;)

really has nothing to do with it. I've argued this several times...Iknow your just f-ing around....but its not why.

Netflix thought that streaming would put an end to dvd rentals and that didnt happen so here comes price hike

just like that fact htat i've reported 4 out of 200 movies I've ordered as "missing" doesn't mean they are jacking up the price.

No, but in the aggregate it raises prices at least somewhat. So fark you for costing me a couple extra bucks over the years. Let me guess, you steal books from the library, too.

I guess some people feel they have a God-given right to watch movies, while the rest of us should pay for it, because we have a conscience.

Yep. Kinda like the people who feel the same way about listening to music. These artists and recording companies don't deserve any pay for their efforts, I can just rip those songs for free.
