New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

The Best Worst Movie

Doc on how a bad movie happens to get made. Going into it, I thought this would cover bad movies in general, but it focuses solely on Troll 2 (which I have not seen, but will see it now!). Pretty entertaining, although it covers the actors in the movie, with the dad being the main focus, rather than the process. It's good enough to kill 90 minutes with.
We just tried to watch this on Saturday night and couldn't get into it at all. Neither one of us has seen Troll 2, but I couldn't even get into the documentary aspect of it. I also thought it was going to cover bad movies in general. We ended up watching episodes of Top Gear instead.

I felt the documentary dragged a bit at times, so I could see where some would have trouble getting into it. Particularly when they are going to all of those silly horror, comic book, and film conventions that they really had no place being at, other than to poke fun at themselves.

Anyone see Safehouse yet? We were going to go this past weekend but after reading reviews it seems like its been pretty universally panned by critics and general movie-goers.

If you saw it, what's your opinion?

A friend of mine said it made "Panic Room" look like "Lifeboat." That was definitely my impression from the trailers.

I don't have my smarmy asterisk-hole to English dictionary. Can you translate that for me?

I just got done watching Cowboys and Aliens. For what it is, it's a decent movie. Just turn off your mind and have some fun, like it was intended. Han Solo has a dick for a kid, though.

The best thing about that movie was about the one third mark when the director basically signals the audience, "I will not allow you to think in this movie. If that's what you want, leave, because we are here to have a good time and nothing else." :)

Cowboys and Aliens sucked...it was laughable at best. I hope Harrison Ford needs the money because his movie choices the last decade and a half rival Jason Lee's for "what the hell were they thinking?" Seriously, he mailed it in so bad he should have been forced to pay postage.

Of course maybe if Favreau had made the movie as more of a B movie instead of taking the oversized budget and putting it towards the wasted CGI Lucas-style it would have been better. He tried too hard, he wanted to make this another Iron Man, problem is the whole point of the story is stupid so either embrace it or perish.

And whoever came up with the idea for why the aliens came...yeah they should be shot :)

What's funny is, I didn't even overanalyze this...I didn't nitpick and look for reasons to hate the movie, I just flat out did. I mean there wasn't even enjoyable unintentional comedy which I was hoping for...just a bunch of big name actors sleepwalking their way to a paycheck.

The Double

Obviously about a double agent(Richard Gere) (not giving anything away here, painfully obvious) chasing a Russian spy that was thought to be dead/MIA years ago (who is actually Richard Gere, yes, he's chasing himself). However, the cat and mouse games that Gere plays with his partner in law enforcement is awesome. Very fun popcorn movie.

It's been done. It was called "No Way Out" and starred Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman, and Sean Young.

This. It wasn't mindless popcorn action or pure campy B movie, it just stunk and used every annoying cliche it could, and not in the fun way.

"I haven't been this confused since the end of No Way Out...how does Kevin Costner keep getting work?"

Finally saw the end of The Guard. It's great; highly recommended, solid A.
