New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Just finished the movie, it was good, probably not as good as I expected but that is due to having very high expectations. I didn't like that the story was about helping the arabs (which I knew going into it), but it was obvious that they were about as worthless back then as they are now.

Did some looking on Netflix, and I think there's a script error or something. The intl version of Red Cliff is listed at 146 minutes, and US version is 148. The US version is correct, the intl is wrong. The icons are different for the movies, hence my deductions. Either way, I'll bring the movie up this Fri for you to borrow. 288 minutes is the run time.

Saw Midnight in Paris and I actually liked it quite a bit. Made me examine my own idyllic view of the 70's as the greatest decade that I lived in. But c'mon, I still remeber riding in the back of an El Camino after little league games. What could be better?

Like most Woody Allen movies though, could have cut out about 20 minutes to a half-hour of it and still told the story.

Also finally rented Cowboys and Aliens and that movie was much more enjoyable than it had a right to be. Very fun Summer blockbuster type of film and the dude who plays .007 pretty much bleeds coolness. Harrison was fun also, but it's hard not to see Indy in him a lot of the time.

Really thought it was going to be bad or at best, mediocre. Fun!

Maybe some older one? Was it that Clark Gable one that was mentioned a while back? Or Amadeus?
I dunno. I think we're about the same up to 1980 (which is what makes your terrible taste after that so much harder to understand. ;) ).

It probably wasn't Freejack. I believe I am the only person in the world, including the cast and director, who actually enjoyed Freejack. Don't get me wrong, I know it's horrible. But it's horrible in just the right pleasure center way.

Saw Underworld Awakening last night. Kate Beckingsale still looks **** fine in a pair of leather pants. Could have been better, maybe shown the vampire clans being a little better organized than what they were. But overall, a decent 3D movie to munch popcorn to and enjoy some of the good old fashioned ultra violence.

Finally got around to seeing Captain America last night...

Am I the only one that thought it was absolutely atrocious?

I made it halfway, then shut it off. It was boring and dumb and I say that as both a fan of Chris Evans and a fan of the comics.

Oh crap...we agree on a movie. I hate you...

Freejack is awesome...Renee Russo, Emilio Estevez, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Buster Pointdexter...how can you go wrong?!?!

American Grindhouse

Doc on the evolution of the grindhouse movie overall, but compares the evolution to mainstream movies. Much more in-depth in history than I thought it would be. John Landis is VERY candidly honest about the business, and hilarious/educational. They cover everything from the '30s to current (about 2007 or so). They break it down by genre (blaxploitation, roughies, cutie chicks, etc). There's a couple movies I'll watch simply BECAUSE of this doc.

Zodiac on IFC. It should have grossed more than it did. Great movie.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Finally watched Caddyshack tonight. Can't believe I found it in the Wal-Mart $5.00 bin; it's a classic.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Are you trying to say that you've never seen Caddyshack before tonight?

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Until this point, my PARENTS, aged 56 and 58 at the time, had not seen Caddyshack. Those are the ONLY people that I know that have not seen Caddyshack. Those ages were accurate at the time of viewing.

Just sayin'.

I saw the new Tom Hanks flick...it is very weird but overall quite well done. Just be warned, you will either cry or get quite close to it the director pulls no punches.
