There Will Be Blood on AMC. This movie is so *ing good. May need to actually buy it. The opening scene, just so....impressive. (Yes I've seen it before)

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Horrible Bosses.

I was in tears it was that funny. Stupid comedy? Oh yes. Still funnier than hell. Although the fatal flaw is still: who the hell is going to complain about Jennifer Aniston harassing them? Gee, she wants you to * her. Oh darn. Well, ok, if you insist. She was awesome in her role, though, aside from you know, just being hot. Spacey was good, as usual. And the three main characters played their roles well. Bumbling but not over the top cartoonish. Some great one-line asides in there.
I was surprised at how much I liked this movie. Spacey was fantastic, but in my first introduction to Charlie Day, I found him (ducking) incredibly annoying. That voice was just...I don't know what to call it, but it really grated on me the whole movie. It's Always Sunny...is on my list of shows to watch and I'm glad he was more tolerable on SNL recently so I can still potentially watch the series someday.

My Week with Marilyn

Maybe you need to appreciate old movies like I do to like this movie but I loved it. Michelle Williams delivers an Oscar worthy performance as Marilyn. I was captivated and that's what I hoped for when I entered the theater.

Just found this, and now I'm really excited to see the movie:

Especially this quote, since it was the one thing I was worried about, due to the MPAA b.s. standards they have:

David Fincher: "I couldn't be happier. We didn't want to whitewash it. We intend to earn our R. If you've read the Book, you know what I'm talking about."

I watched Horrible Bosses a couple nights ago. I thought it was funny, and some of the scenes were hilarious. Definitely better than it had any right to be. The cocaine scene was awesome. I also saw Bridesmaids, which I didn't like as much as I thought I would. I had heard from others that it was great, and I think my expectations were too high.

Late to the show, but "The Game"......wow. Just wow.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Went and saw Muppets this afternoon. Man, why did they ever go off the air??? Great wholesome entertainment.

Three theories:

1. Too smart for the audience.
2. Not relentlessly promoted like other Disney products.
3. Not cross-marketed into a billion pieces of crap like children's toys.

None of these are mutually exclusive.

Bridesmaids was horrible. I think people thought it was clever and funny because they had women doing what the guys always do. The problem is, jockular humor works with guys for about a million reasons...no one wants to think about 7 women having massive diarrhea.

So you like to think about 7 men having massive diarrhea?

Limitless:

Entertaining. Makes you wonder what would happen/what you would do if a drug like that existed, especially legally. I thought the ending was a little too neat, the twist not as twisty as one would hope for in a movie like this, but it still was okay. Quality movie, but I don't see myself watching it more than a couple times in the future.

And I will say that I think Bradley Cooper's role in Wedding Crashers bought his career. He played that part so perfectly, that it opened a LOT of doors.

I enjoyed it as well but I thought it was too reverential for the show. Okay the Muppets are funny, have them be funny, and then you don't have to tell us how funny they are.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Apparently Brendan Fraser wasn't as available as Matt Damon?

Tree of Life. Yowza.

It's basically a feature length montage with some of the most breathtaking cinematography you'll ever see. It's a little trying on your patience, but it is definitely an impressive piece of art.
