Jason Biggs tries periodically with a new sitcom, but fails.
Isn't that one with him and Sarah Chalke coming back at some point? I thought that one had a pretty good run last winter/spring, and actually wasn't as terrible as you'd expect.

Saw the Grimm pilot. A lot of the premise and execution we've seen before in Buffy et al., but it may be a fun watch. The pilot had exceptional sets and lighting, with lots of nice little details.

Now, now, don't go around wishing someone to die, especially in a fire (or in a plane crash). I've recently learned that's bad! :D

Silence of the Hams

This was a horrible, unfunny comedy. Not ever Charlene Tilton's lingerie and triple-boob scenes could save it.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

The only thing I've heard is that Mara Rooney had her nipples and lip pierced for the role of Lisbeth. I saw a trailer for the movie a short while back. It looked promising.

And I just saw the trailer. Lisbeth is not sexy anymore. Noomi Rapace was hot in the originals. Rooney Mara is not hot in the American one. That makes me sad.

Lisbeth isn't supposed to be good looking. She's supposed to be almost asexual in appearance, have a very low opinion of her own looks, but exude a mysterious persona and confidence in her abilities that it draws in her sexual partners.

That's the part that makes Lisbeth sexy. Hotness is slightly different. ;)

This is a travelers' advisory. If you should find yourself driving to see "Like Crazy," stop your vehicle immediately. If necessary, drive off the road. It is monotonous, trite, and features two of the most loathsome characters ever written. Use of unnecessary violence in the apprehension of the director, screenwriter, and anyone involved in the musical score has been approved.

So you're saying it's entertaining, at the least. ;)

Movies I'd like to see that are opening soon/just opened: J Edgar, Rum Diary, Anonymous, Girl With Dragon Tattoo, In Time, The Ides Of March.

Well, I think back on the book (mistake, I suppose), and Lisbeth states in inner contemplation that she doesn't tell people about certain things at two different points in the story (I think this should be vague enough not to give away plot points for those who've not read the book) and gets her in trouble because, simply put, she didn't think anyone would believe her story due to the way she looks. She had no sexual confidence through most of the first book, stating pretty much that she gets a pity or drunk *. She doesn't really assume a sense of sexual being or empowerment until the first couple chapters of the second book, which will likely be cut from the movie as it did in the Swedish version, assuming the American sequel gets made.

I admit I didn't read the books. From what I saw in the orig movies, she's an independent woman, from ALL aspects of life, a loner. Doesn't care how she looks, it's HER style, public be dammed. She does what she does. Rebel without really being a rebel. (sexy, I tell you). Obvious trust issues, not only because of the career she took, but on a personal level, too.

The sex thing.....that's what scares me about the American movies. The key scene in the movie (and I can obviously assume the book) is too racy for US standards, IMO. Sad? Yes. True? Yes. THAT part, will be very important in the translation. I hope they make an artistic exception (to use the MPAA's language) for this. Either way, my orig point is that the US Lisbeth looks like a crack whore compared to the Swedish Lisbeth. Material Want, sure, I won't deny that.

This is one of the few times I'm probably on the side of the Cafe Morlocks. :D If I want to listen to whiny, entitled, spoiled children angst over whiskey to a self-important lo fi soundtrack, I'll just hit the fern bars in Adams Morgan. This movie made "My Dinner with Andre" look like Michael Bay, and "Battlefield Earth" look like understated character development.

I agree with this completely. Reading the first book, my impression of Lisbeth was pretty much exactly what Brent has been saying about the American version. I'm guessing some of what Larsson was trying to make Lisbeth out to be didn't get translated to the screen very well, so Brent didn't even know about it, where those of us who have read the books had that prior impression of what Lisbeth was supposed to be like in the book.

You know how you claim to attract the crazies, well it looks to go both ways there, pal. You must have one half of a Craze-dar setup when out looking for women.
