New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

The movie loses some of the detail on the Vanger family that the book explains well. But I guess that is expected.

While I didn't really care for the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie, I thought that the second and third movies were quite good. I don't know what it is about the first one that didn't sit right with me, since I thought it was by far the best book, and had the most potential for a great movie.

The Three Muskateers - meh, enjoyable enough as a popcorn flick. Some good action scenes, good eye candy in the form of Jovavich, and some decent one liners. Not that I wanted a full on historical set piece, but some of it was still way out of place (the invisible razor wire booby trap, the airships, etc.)

There's a script template that's simply being rewritten for any given locale. It's a lot like the 40's -- you take the same narrative and slap it into a war picture, a baseball picture, a pirate movie, etc. Actually the narrative itself is pretty similar, with some currentist window-dressing: the curvy Hawksian Woman is now a boobs on a stick ninja, sword fights have become CGI 'splosions, and the dialog has gone from college level to third grade, but God bless em the formula still works!

Just saw this ad on ESPN.com and watched the trailer.

I. Can't. Wait.
Holy crap! I hadn't see the trailer for that prior to today...I will need to find a lady friend to see it with up here since I'm pretty sure that despite our shared like for Tom Hardy, tcbg is not going to be to anxious to see that. I'm sold though!
I'm excited though the lack of Edward Norton is going to feel weird.

I actually like Mark Ruffalo and think that he might have been a better casting choice than Ed Norton for that movie. I'm looking forward to this immensely (though I didn't end up seeing Captain America in theaters, the only one of the Avengers' prequels that didn't quite grab my attention).

Watched the Expendables again last night (saw in the cheapie theater when it was released). I really enjoy it, for what it is. Stallone is ridiculous though - we were noticing last night that he might actually be too big to run. He was having some issues getting down the pier after their scouting mission on the island. Also, are those Mickey Rourke's real teeth?

Happy to meet you for that one!! Maybe we can find a place halfway between where we live!

All right folks, lets not get into an all out fracus about this. Lets just agree that Jack and Jill is equally as horrible as Norbit. ;)

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Interesting: Netflix takes up 32.7% of Internet bandwidth
http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/27/tech/web/netflix-internet-bandwith-mashable/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Despite recent troubles, Netflix is a major force on the Internet, accounting for 32.7% of peak U.S. downstream traffic, according to a new report.

Sandvine Intelligent Broadband Networks' report analyzed 200 Internet service providers in 80 countries and found that real-time entertainment apps take up 60% of peak downstream traffic, up from 50% last year. Netflix has more than half of that share. Sandvine considers the hours between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to be peak times

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Jack & Jill looks like the worst movie ever made.

Wonder how much bandwidth is taken up by porn.... Still kinda think that 33 percent is a bit high, but then again, thats all pretty much streaming straight for however long you watch.

I could be wrong, but I swear I've read rave reviews of Crazy Heart and I was bored to tears. I understand it wasn't meant to be Die Hard, but I was completely uninterested and barely made it to the end. Bridges was decent, but there were times when I thought, "I've seen this already" and imho even he didn't save this one.

I liked Crazy Heart, but only because Bridges was great and the story was believable.

Finished "The Girl With/Who" trilogy. Amazing. It'll be reallllly interesting how much they Americanize it. I do have faith in Fincher, though. Any movie geeks hear any rumblings?

The only thing I've heard is that Mara Rooney had her nipples and lip pierced for the role of Lisbeth. I saw a trailer for the movie a short while back. It looked promising.

If you use Google you can see it, instead of just hearing about it. First time I've seen straight up nudity on a movie poster.

I saw the trailer for American Reunion(American Pie series) online yesterday. At first I was shocked that they would make another one...then I realized that none of these actors are doing anything anymore...except Allison Hannigan in How I met your mother. Then I also realized that I would most likely go see it...then I got sad.

Jason Biggs tries periodically with a new sitcom, but fails.
