I agree with this completely. Reading the first book, my impression of Lisbeth was pretty much exactly what Brent has been saying about the American version. I'm guessing some of what Larsson was trying to make Lisbeth out to be didn't get translated to the screen very well, so Brent didn't even know about it, where those of us who have read the books had that prior impression of what Lisbeth was supposed to be like in the book.

Thanks for the info, guys. That does make a lot of sense.

And Clown, it's a case-by-case basis. The couple serious relationships I had, though, were with not-crazy girls. The psychos only last a couple dates, if that. Usually the red flags come a-flyin'.

Thinking about going to go see Immortals tonight at the Midnight showing. My brother is starting a new job next week and this would likely be the last chance for use to do the midnight premier, which has been bit of a tradition with us as its has been the easiest time that works for the both of us to see something.

Just watched Big Fish again. Ever since last year I can't help but shed a few tears when I get to the ending. I feel like that movie was based off of my grandpa, and I'm sure some others feel that way too.

I love the final line:
"A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal. "

I watched Limitless last night. It wasn't bad for a popcorn flick kinda movie, and it kept me entertained, so I won't complain. I didn't like the ending, it left way too much unexplained, though, I guess for this kind of movie I shouldn't be too surprised.

Speaking of dreadful walk, walk, walk movies, I finally caught Shamalongadingdong's "Happening" a couple weeks ago. It's one of those flicks where I love the unfolding of the premise and think someday someone will make a decent movie about it. Marky Mark was good. Everybody else sucked like a Cornell defenseman at Brown.

Saw J. Edgar on Saturday. Thought it was pretty good, for about a half hour in the middle of the movie it really dragged on. However, Armie Hammer was phenomenal. He deserves an Oscar nomination if not more. He overshadows DiCaprio by quite a bit.

White Irish Drinkers

About a couple of brothers growing up in a '70s Irish blue-collar Brooklyn neighborhood. It was pretty good. I thought it captured the thin-line balance of loyalties that stereotypical neighborhoods have (most notably Irish and Italian, those two ethnicities seem to really be different than others, IMO). While it's no Oscar-winner, it's very much worth viewing.

What is really interesting is that Armie is a great-grandson of an oil tycoon that was scrutinized by Hoover for suspected Soviet ties. Pretty fun fact.

Horrible Bosses.

I was in tears it was that funny. Stupid comedy? Oh yes. Still funnier than hell. Although the fatal flaw is still: who the hell is going to complain about Jennifer Aniston harassing them? Gee, she wants you to * her. Oh darn. Well, ok, if you insist. She was awesome in her role, though, aside from you know, just being hot. Spacey was good, as usual. And the three main characters played their roles well. Bumbling but not over the top cartoonish. Some great one-line asides in there.

The ad-lib-style dialogue is what's great. The whole Hitchcock movie thing? Classic. It's like 3 of us decided to plot a murder.

The scene with the cocaine had me rolling in the theater! :)

That movie was way better than it had any right to be. When they are in the car chase and Jennifer Aniston is having him talk dirty to her while she is in the bath, just too hilarious!
