New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

So... they're really doing a sequel to The Hangover? Why? What could they possibly do that would be more interesting than what they did the first time around?

I suppose when you have interesting characters, anything is possible, but I thought that The Hangover was great more for its premise than anything else. I suppose if the characters were annoying or obnoxious, it would've hurt the movie.

But if I had to pinpoint what worked about the movie, its the structure of it: you see all the incredibly hilarious wtf consequences of their big night in Vegas but never really see everything that happens. It's kind of like how hearing a story about drunk is a lot more funny than actually being around a drunk. What would The Hangover 2 be? Do they find themselves in another rufie hangover and have to solve another mystery? Do they just amp up the sleaze? Seems like a no-win situation.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

It will suck to be sure...though it could be like the next day and the mystery continues...that might be the ONLY way to save it.

Maybe...

edit: I just watched The Wizard...best marketing campaign ever for Mario Brothers 3! :D

They all wake up after the wedding and they are in a different country and don't know how they got there?

If they were very ambitious, they could try to create a "wheels within wheels" storyline where what appears to have happened after the first movie ends is actually just a ruse. I'd like to see Señor Chang behind an even more convoluted plot. Go back further, interpolate action between the original scenes, and finish even later.

But it will probably just be braindead Hollywood product. Why should they overestimate their audience?

It's so bad!

(Don't forget the Power Glove!)

This is probably pretty close. Either they all get drunk at the wedding, or they all crash the groom's honeymoon (I could see Galifianakis's character following the couple on the honeymoon, and the rest chasing him).

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Maybe they'll finally explain those **** chickens in the room.

Seriously...everything else is pretty much explained except why the couch is on fire and the chickens! ;)

Ok and for the life of me, I dont remember why Phil was in the hospital. I know Stu gets in the fight with Wayne Newton but I just never could place what happened to Phil

Rumor is Hangover 2 takes place in Thailand

And if you want to know the real reason they are making the sequel...it cost $35 million to make and it made $460 million worldwide!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Even the cut version rules.

And what a classic scene:

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

NARC:

Welcome to another edition of Cop Drama! Jason Patric's family story is filler, there's a twist at the end, with a turn to the twist, blah blah blah. I'm kinda glad I saw it, just to tell others to not bother. I mean, it wasn't wretched, but I expected a little more. Even though I don't watch stuff like CSI, or NYPD Blue, etc etc, even I half-figured out stuff before the ending, and that's saying a lot, since I usually try and not do that while watching suspense movies, so I can see and appreciate what the writers/directors are doing.

If you absolutely love cop dramas, then go ahead and watch it. If you don't.....well, it'll kill an hour and 45 minutes.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Went to Toy Story 3 last night. Simply fantastic. A great way to (hopefully) end the series. If they can let it stand, I honestly think it will stand as the greatest trilogy in motion picture history.

Also saw Invictus. Meh, it was alright. I laughed though, when the lady interrupted Mandela at the trade meeting with the Japanese to tell him the semi-final score, and he asked who they play in the final. The lady tells him and he says, "make sure to block off that time so I can watch." Or something like that. All I could think of was, he can't be bothered during the New Zealand/England match, but misses the South Africa/France semi   :p ?

Whoa... Unless my sarcasm detector is wrong you may need to be slapped back into reality :p ;)

The Godfather?
Star Wars?
Lord of the Rings?

The Godfather?
Star Wars?
Lord of the Rings?

Godfather 3 - Meh
Jedi - Ewoks, need I say more
LOTR - one movie stretched over 9 hours, not really a trilogy, besides that I didn't really like it...
Toy Story - every single one, fantastic

Now, according to Rotten Tomatoes:

Godfather - 1 - 100%; 2 - 98%; 3 - 66%
Star Wars - Ep. IV 94%; Empire 97%; Jedi 77%
LOTR - Fellowship 92%; 2 Towers 96%; Return 94%
Toy Story - 1 - 100%; 2 - 100%; 3 - 99%

In other words, Toy Story is, top to bottom, beginning to end, the best trilogy in motion picture history. No clunker in there...

That's the biggest stretch I have seen on this website. And it's not even close. Nothing personal, just MHO.

I can respect your opinion, but understand that I absolutly love Star Wars and the Godfather (LOTR, not so much). If Toy Story isn't your cup of tea, that's fine too; I can respect that. You can't deny, however, that every single Toy Story film has been universally praised (only that wack job from the New York Press who hates everything popular hated TS 3; but then again, he loved Jonah Hex  ).

Put togehter, I can't think of another trilogy that has been this highly thought of. A single film? Of course (hey, I'm not trying to say any of the Toy Story films are better than Godfather I or New Hope or Empire), but all three where they are all top notch? Nope...

I hear you. I just think the fact that The Godfather parts I & II are two of the greatest movies of all time. They easily make up for their retarded stepbrother.

Also, I've never actually seen TS2 or 3. SO maybe I'll pick it up when they release the trilogy.

Edit: I just thought of another fantastic trilogy (and this is going to ruin my reputation on this subject but whatever), American Pie. Man I love that trilogy.

And that's what I'm saying - I'm not arguing that any single Toy Story is better than any single other film, just that as a whole, there isn't another better trilogy.
They easily make up for their retarded stepbrother.
And I do subtract (quite a bit in fact) for something like Godfather 3. Obviously this is where we differ...

Obviosly, i recommend it

Now you're just being silly. Of course, a friend told me, after I made the Toy Story comment, that when they finally decide to make Breakin' 3, that trilogy will easily surpass the TS trilogy. And who could argue with him? :D

Actually he is right about a lot of that. Godfather 3 is an abortion nothing more. Jedi, while having some cool stuff in it was pretty terrible. Tough to put those as super trilogies because of that.

And American Pie the original is good...the rest are downright stupid and not the good kind of stupid.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Finally saw Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian.

Cute movie. I enjoyed it. I didn't realize the actress playing Amelia Earhart was the same one from Talladega Nights until the end when they showed her in the glasses.

She did an excellent job playing Amelia Earhart IMHO and totally different from the roles you normally see her in.

I expect they'll make one more of these to finish out the trilogy?
