Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Carrey was great in "Man on the Moon." I can't say I've been able to stomach him in anything else.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Apparently she was in Almost Famous and The Good Girl, but given her timeline, I'm guessing they were bit roles at best.

She played the older sister of the journalist in almost famous. Her role consisted of telling her mother she hated her, giving him the records that made him love rock and roll, running away and showing up at the end of the movie.

Great movie though :)

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Was forced to watch Avatar the other day...really didn't see what the fuss was all about. I hate the fact that nothing about the movie was real....All computer generated. Hasn't that movie been made b efore???

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I really like the movie Fred Claus...yes it is cheesy but I enjoy it a lot! The scene at "Siblings Anonymous" is enough reason to see it :D

Sweet merciful crap. I'm pretty sure I cream my jeans every time I see a trailer for this movie.

The next interesting JJ Abrams experiment...

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

The Inception trailer is great but I swear I have seen it at *every* movie I've been to for the last 18 months. I must have seen it 30 times by now.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Everytime I see the Inception trailer I think Dark City. Yet I am still not sure what the movie is about.

The funny thing is I don't think I have ever seen it, until just now. Maybe they aren't promoting it in AZ..lol

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I havent been to the theater in quite a while so I havent seen the trailer too much, but I am excited for Inception. Its the first movie in a while that actually interests me enough that I will go see it in the theaters (probably opening weekend). The special effects do look Matrix-esque. But still quite good.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Watched The Road last night, after hearing about it from some coworkers who had both read the book and saw the movie.

It's based on Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer winning novel, in which a man and his son are traveling along The Road in a post-apocalyptic world, trying to find safety.

This movie was incredible. Incredibly dark, incredibly depressing, and incredibly well acted and directed. If the concept at all interests you, see this movie. You won't be disappointed.

edit: Almost forgot, Robert Duvall has a cameo which is absolutely fantastic.

Another man's opinion: I hated this movie. It spent all its time screaming Oh My God I'm So Subtle, Give Me My ****ing Oscar!

Haven't seen it, but the Oscars totally ignored it's existence despite critical acclaim.

You pretty much hate any movie that the critics like dont you? You are like the Anti-Film Student...instead of liking every movie that has a supposed dual meaning or metaphor and is shot beautifully you hate any movie as such.

As long as you **** off a few of the "Its a Film" type people I am all for it :D

Nah, I like a lot* of those movies, to be honest. I just thought "The Road" was a smugness brick thrown repeatedly against the audience's head (I wanted the kid dead from the second reel on, just to end it).

* from this list, I only hate 5 (Bonni and Clyde, E.T., Fantasia, Midnight Cowboy, and Nashville). Not nearly as contrary as I wish. :D
