Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I fell asleep/passed out by the time we got halfway through this movie. I was in and out for most of it. I just remember the first line because it was so epic.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

It did have a hot girl jumping on a trampoline, then the killer stuck a knife in the trampoline as she came down to do the splits. (although that might have been from "Don't")

I'm pretty sure that's from "Student Bodies."

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Done with disc 1 of Red Cliff.

This movie is not only a quality movie so far, it's batshit insane.

On to disc 2.

Saw Scott Pilgrim. Had no idea what it was going in (never heard of the graphic novel) and enjoyed it. Cera is the character he plays in everything else but it works. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is an easy to look at (mostly straight-woman) Ramona. The most interesting thing about the movie is the manga-like choppy style and direction -- it's clearly a movie designed and mostly executed on computer by clever, youngish people having fun with digital media toys -- and the humor.

Did you get a chance to see thankskilling yet? :D

Nope. Went highbrow last night with a Night Watch / Day Watch DH (my wife had somehow never seen them -- I don't think she liked them as much as I do).

Yeah, if your wife has high sensibilities, avoid Thankskilling with her ;)

Or anyone who's offended easily for that matter. You'll thank me later.

I'm watching Gladiator on TNT. What a terrible thing they've done by editing it. The blood and gore was half the effect of the movie. Without it, the movie just isn't there.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Good to know. I recenlty put it up at the top of my list too.

Ok, Red Cliff is un-be-*ing-liev-a-ble. Just under 5 hours long total, and it's worth every second.

If you want to really see a true epic movie (not the whole "EPIC!" internet trend-speak, I mean a true epic), watch this. And not the US version, as I fear that would ruin it (not that I've seen the cut version).

This might rank #2 for me behind Amadeus for my "best movie all time." It's under serious consideration.

Well, I added it but it's going to be a while...

#417 and #418 on my netflix cue...

Has anyone seen Dead Snow?? Great campy, Nazi zombie horror movie. I actually laughed most of the way through. The outhouse seen was epic...

Psssh... cheater

Well, when a 3 hour movie is due to arrive on a weekday, chances are that I won't watch it at that point. Also, I have to be in the mood to see certain movies. I save the longer movies for a weekend. I change my queue quite a bit.

The trick is to get a good DVD ripper/burner. You can burn through movies at an incredible speed. Watch them at your own convenience. :D

I suppose. Someday I'll get around to that. I already go through 2-4 movies a week. Dunno how much more I can fit in there, especially with football/hockey season coming up.

Very true. I haven't even though about that... I have season tickets to football and hockey at the U this year... It's going to be bat**** crazy this fall/winter. I think if it comes to it I'll just put my membership on hold and save some cash while I go through the burned movies.
