New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Mad Dog 20/20......*shudder*

Saw "The Informant!" with Matt Damon. I thought it was pretty funny, and at times it made you want to strangle him, because while he was really smart, he was so incredibly naive it drove you nuts. He did a great job with the character.

Very odd story, though. I kind of wish there was another "non-Hollywood" documentary out there about it; something like "Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room," etc (and there might be; I haven't looked).

I'd see this movie again for sure.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Nice. I remember sneaking Mad Dog into the theater when I was at college..........not sure why, I wasn't that poor. The movies were definitely more amusing after a good buzz.

OT - there is a nice "low-end fortified wine" Wikipedia topic, if this applies to anyone else. Good times but nasty stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-end_fortified_wine

There's actually a whole website devoted to the topic. ;)

Been trying to get myself updated on classics and older, recommended movies, so I finally saw The Hunt for Red October last weekend. Pretty good.

Dude he isnt naive, he is a lying conman. Everything he said was a lie, everything he did was to further his own schemes and he ripped people off of thousands of dollars. The only one naive here is you for thinking he is naive ;)

Oh and the movie was a C at best. Sad because it had a ton of potential with everyone involved.

I mean the stuff like looking into the lamp, telling his secretary things, etc. Not the other stuff.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Yeah that wasnt naive either, part of it was because he wanted people to know he was an informant and the other part was because he was a friggin moron :p

Moron, naive, whatever. He was business smart and obviously consmart, but everyday tasks/common sense? Notsomuch. Shouldn't be surprising, though, as a lot of people who are that smart are like that.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Regardless of how naive you thought his character was, he was really funny.

I'm not sure how Handy is arriving towards "C at best". I thought the whole film was a really funny (dry humor, of course) piece of misdirection with a great payoff at the end.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I found it unfunny and boring. They gave away all the "funny" stuff in the previews and the Matt Damon's character made me want to stab my eyes out rather than keep watching him. And I am a huge Matt Damon fan!

Even the great and awesome Scott Bakula didn't save it.

What you fail to realize is that this is the internet, so I'm right and a genius, you're wrong and a moron, and this is a picture of a cat with a caption:

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I'm getting the international version of the following this weekend (Intl was 280 minutes, the US release was 148 minutes). I would be lying to say that I'm not kinda pumped to see it.

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z3qIXQCHf94?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z3qIXQCHf94?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Did that begin life as a parody trailer in Grindhouse? It looks very familiar. (Please to forgive if this is a stupid question. I am chronically unhip.)

Yep. I guess the fanboys went nuts and begged for a movie. Here's the original Grindhouse trailer:

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I liked that movie better when it was called Punisher...or when it was the TV show Renegade...or any of the other times they did something where a guy loses everything including his family and takes his revenge out on bad guys :D

(no that does not include Max Payne ;) )
