Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I have a question about Inception:

Can we just start a thread about it already, instead of every single post here having white text? It would be nice to just talk about it, rather than having to hide "spoilers".

Seconded :D

Thanks!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

So I just read an article stating that a movie based on the board game "Battleship" is in the makes. You read that right...I said Battleship. The story is about the US Navy fighting off an alien space force. How does that sound anything like the game battleship you ask...because like in the game the movie will center on "guessing where your opponent is hiding their ships and then narrowing in on them." Wow. You cant make this crap up. Oh and Rhianna will be one of the stars of the film. Also in the article...Micheal Bay will be producing a movie centered on Ouija boards and Ridley Scott will do one based on Monopoly. Link. This crap is getting out of hand.

I just paid five bucks to watch Grown Ups...and I don't care I thought it was funny. Now I'm killing time so I can either sneak into Inception or Predators ;)

Woo for Sandler rocking the UNH t-shirt! (Not gonna lie, 'Ewe and I will probably rent that at some point. Looked dumb, but good-naturedly so.)

I can't remember if you've seen Inception. If not, and you can catch it from the beginning, go see that! If you've seen it, or missed something already, check out Predators (Inception is obviously worthy of multiple viewings, but I want to see Predators, too).

Grown-Ups was worth the price of admission no matter what it was. I laughed pretty hard throughout the whole thing. between Sandler, Kevin james, and spade/schneider its well worth it.

There are only certain movies that I feel must be seen in the theater. "Grown-Ups" is not one of them. Not by a long shot.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I watched "Doubt" for the first time last night. It was good, with an excellent cast, but rather unsatisfying at the end. I will have to catch it again. Amy Adams seems like Julia Roberts-lite, which is probably why I like her so much. And Streep and Hoffman are continually great.

Amy Adams surprised me, since the only other thing I saw her in was "Talledega Nights." I did see "Charlie Wilson's War," but somehow I forget the role she played.

Quite a contrast of character, and well done.

And why was it unsatisfying? Was it because you don't know for sure whether Hoffman was guilty? (and if so, the director only told Hoffman whether he was guilty or not, same as the writer did with the play's star). If that wasn't it, please explain, as I am curious.

Either way, this was Streep's movie, and Hoffman was but a great guest in it.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I loved The Departed until the end. It was the least creative ending I've ever had to see. It was as if the writers ran out of material and says, ****, well, let's just kill everyone.
As soon as they started making Shakespeare references at about the halfway point, you should have known how that movie was going to end. I wasn't impressed by the Departed, a very average movie, I thought.

I killed time for an hour and saw Inception...it was pretty awesome. I still plan to see Predators.

Last night I watched Charlie Wilsons War...I liked it a lot even Horseface wasn't annoying in her usual way. ;)

I loved Adams' character in CWW as Charlie's assistant. And those legs ... :D

I think I wanted a resolution in Doubt. Perhaps because I was rooting for the priest to bring change to the parish, and hated the possibility he may have been a pedo. And perhaps Streep's character reminded me of the nun/principal who ran my elementary school, and whose office I was wont to visit frequently. :o ;) Either way, I liked the movie, and suspect it will be one I will watch again to fill in the gaps.

Salt - (a.k.a. The female Bourne Identity)

I liked it. Some people get way to nitpicky over summer fare. You like action? This movie has it from start to end. There's no long boring moments where you sit and wait. It's not the smartest plot, the greatest dialogue, or the massive care about the characters movie but it delivers.

Well, I guess I didn't pick up on those.

Saw "Bourne Identity with Boobs" today. One thing that could have made it stupider was Tom Cruise. Nothing else occurs to me at this moment. Well, OK, maybe Angelina Jolie as the lead. Wait, what? There were some good action sequences, though -- particularly the truck & etc. chase in the first 30 minutes.
