New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

Yea pretty much. Or at least the... forced resolution of all the loose ends when a sequel was inevitable/expected. Interplay between Batman and Dent would have made the next one more interesting.

That's pretty much where I was coming from. The Two-Face story added nothing to the story. The movie would have been just as good without it. I'm not saying it took anything AWAY from the movie, it just felt tacked on (at least the latter portions of the Two-Face story).

Well to be fair, I doubt they would have killed him if Heath had died during production. An outlaw Batman vs. Joker would have been an epic third film with no need for Harvey. Since the Joker is now not happening Nolan is painted into a corner.

I personally liked the Two Face story...remember what Nolan said, TDK was Dent's story with the Joker sort of randomly showing up and causing mayhem. The whole point was the rise, fall, corruption and end of Dent.

Up until the Joker sets Dent off into crazy land, can you honestly say you cared at all about him as part of the story? He was about as important as whats her face who they exchanged out for a different actor.

Yes. He did what Batman was doing, only legally.

Did you not watch the movie? :p

Hey guys....suggestion....don't waste your time with A Single Man. Brutally bad, turned it off after an hour, and that was after I gave it 50 minutes more than I should have.

Nah I was too busy watching the Joker **** up Dent's attempt to do it legally and all the fun stuff he was doing. Rather than the 4 or so scenes with Dent talking about who is Batman?

Not doubting that. I was, too. But the Two Face angle was necessary, IMO, to propel the story, in more ways than one, and it was entertaining.

Let's settle this the easy way:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TOOev4qlXa4&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TOOev4qlXa4&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Made it halfway through. Better than a Tech fan, but not by much. :p

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

That reminds me, that entire Hong Kong plot could have been cut out, with Batman just turning up with the guy. Didn't really need a play by play of it. Or just show the end of it with him assaulting the building.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I thought that was hilarious! When he is fighting the Joker and they do the sound effects from the TV show I teared up a little :D

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I'm about 30 minutes into Boondock Saints II and I hate it. I loved the first movie but this is trying WAAAAAY the **** too hard to be the first movie. The local detectives somehow turned into some of the worst acted or worst directed characters I've ever seen. SyFy has better acting.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I am watching The Invention of Lying...not bad actually.

A few weeks ago, because a friend recommended it I watched Funny People...my lord that movie was a steaming pile of crap. How does Judd apatow get paid to make such cruddy movies?

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

I watched "Doubt" for the first time last night. It was good, with an excellent cast, but rather unsatisfying at the end. I will have to catch it again. Amy Adams seems like Julia Roberts-lite, which is probably why I like her so much. And Streep and Hoffman are continually great.

Except Adams doesnt have a horse face ;)

And Brent, I dont even know what that means...

Re: New/Rented Movies: Now In Smell-O-Rama!

This is going to get me flamed, but I found the invention of lying pretty offensive. Mainly because he didn't brand the movie for what it was. I didn't have a problem with Religelous (sp?) because they made no attempt to brand the movie as something else.

If I had gone to the theater to watch it I'd have walked out.

From the ads it looked the The Invention of Lying was "just more boilerplate summer comedy product and what, did Jim Carey miss the casting call"? What was the bait and switch?

The part where it went from boilerplate comedy to Bill Maher documentary.
