Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

The amount of time I have wasted watching TV spots, trailers and behind the scenes videos is scary! Here are some for you all to enjoy :)

I always thought that the obvious answer was that he didn't. He's part of an alien species that doesn't grow facial hair.

However, I can't remember if other characters from Krypton were ever shown having facial hair. If there were, well yeah then it is a toughie.

The bad guys from Krypton all had facial hairs. Even the chick Kryptonian from Superman II had to wax that 'stache.

While nursing a hangover I watched "Savages" today. Didn't expect to like it, figured it would be something to fall asleep to. On the contrary, it held my attention and I actually enjoyed it. Surprised the hell out of me.

As mentioned on FB, I enjoyed it more than I should have. It's worth seeing.

The Dictator:

Minus the cheap laughs in the helicopter scene (which I was laughing hysterically at), don't bother. The rest of the movie is crap.

The Sicilian Girl

Italian movie. After a girl sees her father and brother killed by rival mafiosi, she breaks the code of omerta. Based on a true story, and I really liked it. It presented itself quite true to how cosa nostra works (think: Godfather, Goodfellas, although it's more of the former), and really shows how people deal with, and rationalize, their opinions of both the law and the criminal element in Sicily.

So much WIN!

I'm thinking that this is when he slams into the window? If so, I agree - was laughing my butt off.

The rest of the movie made me think that Sacha is out of ideas. We've seen all this before.

It was where he was talking with the nuclear guy about his Porsche/etc, on the helicopter tour. It was hilarious, because I could see something like that actually happening. :D

Warlords:

Chinese war epic. It was okay. Frankly, after seeing Red Cliff (international version) it's difficult to watch other Chinese war movies, as they just won't compare. The battle scenes were a bit drawn out (which is normal, from what I've seen in these types of movies), and the story was ok. There was just something missing that would make me really like it.

Nosferatu (1922 version):

Underwhelming. I did have high expectations, which probably affected my viewing of the movie. For its time, yes, quite horrific (similar to the original Night Of The Living Dead). It was just a bit simplistic for my tastes.

The Red Violin:

I really enjoyed it. It was kind of all over the map in the way it told the story, in the way of flashbacks and such, but it worked. I found it a little humorous that you have all these German, French, and Chinese actors, and then boom Samuel L Jackson is in it, too. Very random selection, in choosing Samuel, IMO. Would definitely recommend this one.

Red Violin is a fantastic movie! I remember about halfway through being completely confused yet still very much intrigued then the ending played it out perfectly :)

#2 of the Three Colors trilogy. Had a much different vibe than Blue which I very much appreciated, but you sense a tie-in to the former. Obvious political subtext about Poland's attempts to rise from their economic doldrums within Europe following their move to a democracy. It presented a lighter feel than Blue, but that only masked the lead character's quest. Beautiful film.

I wasn't confused, really, but was intrigued at how all the key players were going to fit in at the end.

For my last movie of the day, I ran with The Last Stand.

Embrace it. Just....embrace it. Wow.

Maybe I'm just in a mood, but that cracked me up. Wanna see.
