That is gonna be hilarious!

Watched Zero Dark Thirty last night. It was pretty good, but it needed more waterboarding.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Here's a trailer for a movie that I'm having an increasing indifference towards seeing.

I was having an incredible amount of indifference until I saw that. Maybe Jackson can rescue the abomination that was the first movie after all. Hoping...

For context, by this point with the Fellowship, I had seen it 3 or 4 times. I haven't even been able to muster the energy to rent the first Hobbit movie so that my teenager can see it or so I can see it a second time.

Btw, Evangeline Lilly looks quite hot as an elf. ;)

EDIT: Dude at 1:19 - assume it's Bard - looks and talks an awful lot like Orlando from Pirates.

No..gif

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a smart man. Writes, directs and stars in a movie where the main character is a sex addict....casts Scarlett Johansson.

That trailer is better than the entire first movie was. they could have just cut half that film, added it to this one and it would have been a classic! The trailer makes me actually care about seeing Part 2 which I didnt after part 1.

Knuckleball!

Documentary on the knuckleball, although it focuses mainly on the careers of R. A. Dickey and Tim Wakefield, instead of the science/history of the knuckleball, which I thought it was going to be. No matter, still a very good doc. It shows the trials and tribulations of a knuckleball pitcher, and there's some good insights to the mentality that these guys (along with old-timers Charlie Hough and the Niekro brothers) bring to the game.

Honestly, if I ever have a son, he's learning the pitch. Just in case. I'll put it that way. :)

Downside: the movie appears to be a Rom-Com for Jersey Shore Guidos.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

I think it looks more like a rom-com mocking the guidos ;)

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Watched Cool World today. If you ever wanted a good bad movie to watch with friends to give it the MST3000 treatment to, that would be it. Especially while high. There's so many other things that they could have done with the flick, and most of them would have made it a lot better flick. When the main plot point of the movie is about how you shouldn't be putting your pen into the ink, its rather rediculus to be keeping things clean enough to be PG-13. Go out and do it right with an R, and drop a lot of the background silly violence in the flick, it would have made a lot more sense. Its really only redeeming feature is a lot of early 90's Kim Basinger romping around acting slutty. Overall, had the feel of a movie that had too many bad cooks in the kitchen.

I remember that movie! I remember enjoying how dumb it was :D

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Opening this weekend is both This is the End and Man of Steel. TitE is scoring an 81% and MoS is getting 61% on Rotten Tomatoes. I've yet to read reviews on either site because I think the reviewers are going to give away the movies' surprises. It's happening more and more lately. In fact, the last two movie reviews I've read have done that. Film critics need to go back to school and read how Siskel & Ebert would do it.

I've read/heard one bad thing about "This Is The End" from a movie critic. Frankly, I think he's trying to be "that guy."

Warriors on Sundance right now. Love this movie. Such a classic!

Which is odd, because "This Is The End" does not look very funny to me. Just another bland Seth Rogen comedy.
