Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

It might look black on film. It could be like on "Married...with Childen," the No Ma'am t-shirts weren't white, but look white on film without blinding the audience. You get the lighting and such on set, and some colors come out looking not quite the same.

Take Jar Jar Binks, he didn't look Jamaican on set...

Winner.

Saw Public Enemies tonight. I felt like it was 7 1/2 hours long. Seriously, they could have cut out about 30-45 minutes of that. It really dragged in places. Though Christian Bale is still teh sex.

I thought he was really dialed back even for the fangirls like yourself.

But I guess I didn't notice the length of the movie, although I agree some of it could be cut, maybe some of the cheese lines between Depp and his girl. Not the "what else do you need to know line" of course, even though they've cut one word out of that already in the commercials, etc.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

I didn't like the changes for the ending. I expected a drastic change due to how they left for the cave, but I didn't expect that.
I hated the joke they threw in at the very end.

There was also a distinct lack of conflict between the three. It's been a while since I read that book but wasn't Ron at his second most annoying in it? (The last book takes the cake for that)

IIRC, the sixth book had a lot of poor romantic comedy, interspersed with the occasional flashback to Voldemort's childhood and rise to power via Dumbledore, with some action at the very end.

I haven't been able to make myself shell the money out for the movie, considering my low opinion of the source material they have to use for this one.

It was a good movie, but they seemed to go to lengths to smooth out the character faults. Which is probably a good move with how badly Rowling kept everyone in character, but makes the trio of friends look too goody goody.

You're pretty much right. I wasn't a huge fan of the book, and wasn't a huge of the movie for the same reason.

There's a couple minutes of action at the beginning, a couple minutes of action at the end, and an awful 2 hour long episode of Degrassi in between.

The 5th and 6th books are by far the worst of the series.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

I like the 5th book the best. :D

1. 5
2. 7
3. 4
4. 3
5. 6
6. 1
7. 2

And I'd have to say that most opinions I've seen have the second book as the least favorite by far.

I also liked the 5th a lot, although I can see that there was a fair bit that could have been cut out.

So a movie based on books for kids came across as a long episode of a tv show for kids...holy **** that's insane! :D

I don't know what you all were talking about before, Public Enemies was badass.

Baby Face Nelson FTW

Yeah, but it's a novel not an essay. What's wrong with a little bit extra in a novel? I really don't get the complaint to be honest.

Totally agreed on Baby Face (I think I even specifically mentioned that role), and I loved Public Enemies. It was just Hoover that drove me nuts. ;)
