Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

You know every time I see a preview for GI Joe I want to see it less...my god you smell the suck on that piece of crap!

Are they still releasing that?

I haven't heard anything about it in months, I had honestly forgot all about it until your post. That probably says something about the movie.

I see the commercial daily and oh my lord it looks like it is gonna suck to Matt Cooke levels!

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Pleasantly surprised by "Whatever Works" last night. Larry David is really good at being unlikable.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Well, I will sheepishly cop to having gone to see Harry Potter last night. I liked it.

And Jon, I agree, Larry David is really good at being unlikeable.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

This thread isn't as much fine without BigPieps around.

Could do this one for the movie quote thread, but I'm going to spoil it.

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow."

Anyway, I found another old movie theme to follow, films that Bogie and Bacall were in together, and finished it last night.

To Have and Have Not (1944)
The Big Sleep (1946)
Dark Passage (1947)
Key Largo (1948)

"To Have and Have Not" has the famous line, is the first film with the pair who apparently fell in love on the set, and is probably the best of the lot. "To Have and Have Not" and "Key Largo" are both gangster films that have some gunplay and some suspense. There is more romance in
"To Have and Have Not", the dialogue is better for the most part, and it's based on a Hemingway book, although considered his worst book.

"The Big Sleep" is a film noir that has such a complicated story that you really don't understand what is going on as your watching it. It takes a long time to finally piece things together as a viewer.

"Dark Passage" is the worst of the bunch. It's about a guy who breaks out of jail a wrongfully convicted man and tries to prove his innocence.

My rankings:
To Have and Have Not 3.5 out of 5
Key Largo 3 out of 5
The Big Sleep 3 out of 5
Dark Passage 2 out of 5

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Saw the Harry Potter movie last night. It reminded me of a highlight reel or "best of", but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I do need to go back and reread the books. The acting really stood out to me in this film (Daniel Radcliffe being the only one that I thought was "okay", the rest were really good).

Also, from Jon Favreau's Twitter feed:

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

We watched LA Story and Shopgirl over the weekend, both Steve Martin flicks. I enjoyed both of them, even though they are sort of "chick flicks", but the GF seems to have pretty good taste in movies. Claire Danes is awesome in Shopgirl.

He was the model for George Costanza. But in this film, he just takes everything you ever hated about Woody Allen and magnifies it. Very funny movie, but you do want to kill him at the end.

LA Story is great and hardly a chick flick! The way he rips on the fakeness of LA is great, beaten only by Bowfinger :)

I have not seen Bowfinger yet. I really do like alot of Martin's "smaller" flicks.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing John Travolta and Robin Williams in Wild Father's Hogs Day. At least I think that's the name of it.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

How do you put the Black Widow in a blue suit that looks more vinyl then leather. That just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
It might look black on film. It could be like on "Married...with Childen," the No Ma'am t-shirts weren't white, but look white on film without blinding the audience. You get the lighting and such on set, and some colors come out looking not quite the same.

Take Jar Jar Binks, he didn't look Jamaican on set...

You would still think the photos would come out black, or atleast make the photos you release to press come come out black, it would take about five minutes in photoshop.
